I pulled a 15" dELL flat panel monitor from the dumpster at work. It looked brand new. I plugged it into a spare pc and the screen flashed for one second and went black, but I could see the screen is still working.
Never had opened a LCD screen before but wanted to learn. I found one bad radial cap and pulled it. Ordered a set of six 1000uf's at a cost of $5.39 delivered and resoldered a new cap in.
The monitor works great now.
After my wife saw this monitor, she wanted it for her pc, because the frame on this LCD is smaller than her old one.
Total cost for the cap alone was $.18.
The hard part was getting the LCD monitor apart without breaking it apart.
