Hi all, haven't posted much in the last year or so but I have been lurking in the background mainly reading as much as possible. The main thing everyone here seemed to agree on is the importance of having an ESR meter of some sort.
Well my local supplier finally got one that was less than $100.00. So I bit the bullet and bought one.
For the last couple of years I have been practising on and off with MOBO's that I didn't really care about, to get my skills downpat as far as R/R caps go.
Anyhoo thanks to this ESR meter I have been able to successfully repair 3 Pentium 4 motherboards that either had no video or would turn on and shut right off.
After much frustration learning this skill, it sure is a nice feeling when you finally get the hang of it!
