Higher Replacement Values

higher value replacement:

2200uf -> 3300uf

1000uf, 1200uf -> 1500uf

the only reason i use higher value is because i can't get 2200uf anywhere in my town. so replacing it with 3300uf ones is good. and altough the panasonic fc 1000uf is good, but the mbz rubycon is 30% cheaper with the exactly same size but much higher ripple and lower impedance . i find those good caps after visiting about 20 - 30 electronic shop no radio shack here.. (i live in indonesia).

So HFQ is good? This is something i found about HFQ (hope it's as good as FC):

HFQ is retired series. FC is direct replacement new series.

prolly the suppliers buy big quantities of caps and have some old stock of HFQ. technical data gives me a headache lol.....i think they will be fine....FC will be new and improved. FA is also new series and better than FC, but FC is perfect for our purposes anyway. tried and tested on many boards by the people of these forums.

you are lucky to find rubycon mbz and panny FC in your local electronic shops. MBZ is a very good series.

replacement caps:

• 12 x panasonic fc 3300uF 10v (will need a sandpaper to smooth 0.8mm lead diameter to 0.6, and the caps position will looks ugly, i cant help it..)
  = 12 x $0.4 = $4.8
• 18 x rubycon mbz 1500uf 10v = 18 x $0.2 = $3.6
• 4 x panasonic hfq 1500uf 16v = 4 x $0.4 = $1.6

so for the caps its only take $10 all..

hmm but maybe it takes about $15-$20 coz i buy the wrong sanyos. after that first board i have learn enough how to good soldering, what good caps to buy (and where), and what if you want to experiment with unknown quality caps (always buy a small quantity first..!). the next boards is a lot easier..

yeah, i do think so. maybe they have the stock from 2-3 years ago, lol. i was concern that old caps would fail, so after the first POST i don't turn off the comp for about 3 hours. maybe its giving time for the dielectric to revive back. (old caps more than 1 year in stock -> thin dielectric layer?)

later i found 8mm kzg 1500uf . sadly there's no 2200uf caps of quality brand and series..
