    First time recapping

    Hello,

I have a Gigabyte GA-8SIML s478 motherboard and a Fortron FSP Source 250W ATX PSU ready for recapping. All I now need are the new caps. Old caps:

    Gigabyte mobo:
    - 4x GSC [LE] 3300uF 6.3V
    - 4x GSC [RE] 1500uF 16V
    - 7x Choyo [XR] 330uF 25V

All four GSC LE series caps were bulged. RE series showed no visible signs of failure, but GSC is GSC so i decided to remove them anyway. Same goes for the Choyo caps, they didn't show any signs of failure... But due to their bad reputation i also removed them. And even though they are only 330uF some of them were placed next to DIMM slots so for the sake of reliability i'll replace them. They do have a vent stamped onto them. Mobo was working when pulled out.

    Fortron PSU:
    - 3x Teapo [SEK] 3300uF 10V
    - 1x Fuhjyyu [TMR] 2200uF 16V
    - 1x Jamicon [TK] 470uF 25V
    - 1x Jamicon [TM] 1000uF 10V

Also there is a large resistor which had brown, transparent goo in it's base (probably heated up glue) which had DE-SOLDERED ITSELF and was held on by the glue... The resistor cannot be identified because the covering was burnt off O_o this can't be good. The solder side of the PCB is also darkened from that part. The PSU was working when it was pulled out. And yes, it's a genuine FSP.

So, i need some suggestions for caps to use. And if anyone can find info on the FSP PSU, i'm all ears.

EDIT: Should I also replace the primary caps? They are Teapo LXK 470uF 200V.

    Re: First time recapping

I would replace the PSU completely , as it was probably the cause of overheating and overloaded caps in the first place that lead to their swelling from maximum operation.
250watts is not alot of PSU power , unless your mobo is limited to less than 2gb.

If you absolutely need to , I would replace all the caps in the PSU , resolder the existing resistor and plug the PSU in with nothing else connected to it , before proceeding with any further possible problems from what was originally installed with PII processors. (PSU) Run the unit by itself for 2hrs. , check it's temperature and proceed with caution , adding 1 plug at a time to the system. Start with your processor and hard drive first with as little memory as possible in the mobo. Go from there with whatever else you have. Use a minimum at best first.

woops , if the PSU heats up alot , where you can't keep your hand on the metal frame of the box , don't connect it , replace it with a PSU of at least 350watts or more , more is not a problem , less is.

Gaming Laptop Zephyrus S17 TFT not detected every time !
        by titomno2
        Hi guys,
I post my problem here because I think it could be a capacitor related issue (Asus support on this particular subject is non-existing).
So the computer is a Zephyrus-S17-GX735LXS-26T and the strange behavior is seen.
On cold start most of the time the internal screen is detected and a picture it works fine until shutdown, sleep or deep sleep.
Then the screen won't work for a long period of time.
If I wait 1 or 2 hours it work again most of the time.
When it doesn't work the batterie indicator blink 3 times white stop and the same schematic is repeated...

Adding a clock battery to action camera to retain date&time when changing batteries Campark X25
        by flat-earther
I have a cheap action camera with an annoying trait, every time I change batteries the date & time gets reset and I have to set it again.

To solve this problem I want to add a small internal battery inside it which will keep supplying power to the camera for a while while I change batteries so the date & time is retained.

I have opened the camera and I think there is enough room to add something inside to accomplish this:

The camera is powered by a 3.7V nominal single cell lithium ion battery.
So I need to connect another battery in...

First time recapping a motherboard, need advice!
        by Gwynz
Hey guys, I just picked up an old Athlon motherboard (Chaintech 7AJA2) to build a vintage PC system around and noticed it had a leaking cap and a few others that appear to be bulging

It does boot up fine though, just finished installing Windows XP and it ran through a few 3dfx demos successfully (using a Voodoo3 3000 AGP card) but it does seem to have issues when I have more than one stick of RAM installed, should I also change out the little squat capacitors that are around the DIMM slots even though they appear fine?

HP Pavilion dm4-1065dx long time to get the power led on
        by OscarAV
        Hello,

I just came here to see if someone has had the same problem I have, and if he or she solved It, to know how to do It.

I have made a quick search for my laptop but I have not seen anything similar.

I have an old laptop, an HP Pavilion dm4-1065dx which takes a lot of time to be ready to start if the laptop has been unplugged for a while. It has no battery. The battery failed long time ago. It needs to be plugged to work. But as I said, It can take a lot of time until the charging led gets on, and I can switch on the laptop. I am using an external monitor...
