        After reading about new op-amps in the op-amp market featuring "no pops and clicks", I think a solution may be finally feasible.

        I've been looking at this aswell as other new ones came in farnell last month:

            Fizzycapola, LM6171 isn't new, maybe just the lead free version is. Many feel bipolar opamps don't sound as good as jfet (input), though if you were wanting to directly drive low Z headphones then it's higher than average current capability would be a plus.

            Regardless, when one talks of opamps more immune to clicking or popping I think it's generally in one specific context, when some of them are powering up or down (only once per power cycle, turning on or off the equipment) they have an instable voltage range below their minimal spec'd voltage. You wouldn't be seeing that problem while using a system continually turned on, rather it seems the opamp is getting this output from the sound processor due to the PCI bus problem others have mentioned.

            I may be wrong, but I have built a few headamps including using LM6171. What you might do is temporarily solder on jumper wire to the opamp input pin for L & R channels and to ground, talking all three wires to an off-board headphone jack. This takes the opamp out of the loop and you can directly drive the next stage to see if the pops and clicks are already present before the opamp's involvement. Hooking this up to a scope instead of headamp or headphones would be even better.

                    No power
                    i have the above ps which i change the TOP258eg ic.
                    Now i have power but is clicking and voltages are flutuating. I change all capacitors, i test all mosfets and all are ok.
                    i am wondering what is the value of R901! I am getting 0.5Ohms. Is that correct!
                    the colours look like R,R,W or silver,G Bl.

                    Hi all,

                    I am working on a sound processor, it tends to overheat so I fitted a fan inside. The fan is connected to the +15V of the PSU via a DC-DC converter based on the LM2596 to reduce the voltage to around 10.5V.

                    Unfortunately the analogue circuitry is picking up the noise from the fan in two ways:
                    1. The fan is close to the analogue section, the motor itself gets into the outputs so I'll have to move it somewhere else
                    2. Even with the fan running outside of the case, there is still some noise which is clearly going back to the processor via power line....

                    Surprisingly enough, this receiver doesn't have the DSP chip issue. The HDMI board does not get hot, and sound over HDMI works fine.

                    Regardless of the input, the right channel has noise that is clearly noticeable even on average volume level. The only cases when there's no noise is when VCR input is selected (some tracks on the board are damaged, maybe that's why), or if HDMI input is selected but nothing plugged into it. In all other cases, even when no input is connected I still have the noise.

                    There's some logic behind it. As soon as I select an input I get only left...

                    Hello

                    I have since a long time a Philips HTS8010S/01 which has been old but was doing the job.

                    Since a few days, it starts by making a weird "static" nois when switches on for a few seconds to a minute and then works like a charm.
                    Noise loudly outputs from the 3 channels, even if no signal is sent by the controler.DVD to the subwoofer/amp unit.

                    I was thinking of a soldering that was starting to be damaged and that was only doing the job after a few seconds of heating, most probbaly on the power board

                    Problem

                    This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....
