Need help finding replacements for KZG series caps

Hi. I have a desktop PC with an MSI 945G Platinum motherboard. I play my favorite old games on it. Sadly, one of the KZG series caps on the motherboard exploded yesterday and there are signs of leakage on top of a few others as well, so I'm thinking of replacing them.

The KZG series caps on the motherboard are as follows:

    2 x 1000uF 6.3v M(105C) 5(7) 5C 10x12.5mm (one of these exploded yesterday)
    6 x 1800uF 16v M(105C) 4(2) ND 10x25mm

(There are also 8 KZE series caps (1000uF 6.3v 8x15mm) on the mobo but they look okay).

I couldn't find new KZGs anywhere so I'm thinking of ordering these Nichicons from the shop instead:

    Nichicon HN series 1000uF 6.3v 10x12.5mm
    Nichicon HZ series 1800uF 16v 10x25mm

These Nichicons seem to have lower ESR values than the KZGs which is probably a good thing (I think). I'm hoping to replace the KZGs with better caps though. Would these Nichicons do the job?

Need a bit of feedback on the issue before ordering the parts. I welcome any comments and suggestions. Thanks in advance.

The KZG are badcaps.. I've had bad KZE and KZJ aswell.. Thats why they have bulged/leaked.. Definitely get low ESR caps not general purpose.. Also watch out where you order from.. If on Ebay I'd go with egecku for caps.. Nobody else.. Recap the entire board.. If it literally blew up I'd check for other damage..

Edit: Topcat has goodcaps here.. https://www.badcaps.net/pages.php?vid=26

    See ya,

KZG and KZJ are a known series of capacitors that has problems and eventually go bad.

KZE is GOOD, it's not known as having issues and as far as I know, it has a different chemical composition compared to KZG and KZJ so it's unlikely to have the same flaws.

      KZG is discontinued.
Nichicon HN and HZ are also discontinued, but they were discontinued recently (last year I think) so it's possible to still be stocked by stores. Be warned though, eBay may have fakes.

Nichicon HM, HN, HZ should all be suitable. With that motherboard, Panasonic FM or FR should also work fine, even through they don't match exactly to the specs.

Considering you're in Turkey, it may be expensive to get capacitors from Topcat, since he's in US. Good stores like www.farnell.net or http://www.rs-components.com/index.html may also have high shipping prices.

As I'm in Romania, I'm willing to mail you some quality capacitors from my own stock, for basically the price I paid for them, plus 2$ for postage.
      I have

      Nichicon HM 1000uF 6.3v 8x15mm 0.5$ each

      Nichicon HM 1500uF 16v 10x20 mm 0.75$ each
      Panasonic FM 2200uF 16v 12.5x25 0.85$ each

I don't have 1800uF but either 1500uF or 2200uF would work instead, as long as you can fit 12.5mm diameter capacitors I recommend the 2200uF ones.

        Many thanks for your replies.

        @mariushm

I don't think I have any another choice other than ordering online internationally and honestly, it's not the additional shipping costs that I'm worried about. Ordering from Topcat's shop costs only an additional $10, which isn't a big amount really and I bet ordering from Farnell or RS or even ebay would cost almost the same. Although I'm worried about whether or not I'll be able to receive the shipment, especially considering I may have to wait a few weeks for it to arrive, that's the biggest issue. So if I'm to wait that long, then I'd really want to get some good quality parts at least on par with the previous ones. None of the ones you have offered me is an exact match to KZGs or better. I've already checked the datasheets for Panasonics FC, FM and FR series but they all looked inferior to the KZGs (higher ESR, lower ripple).

Rubycon has a few which have somewhat similar specs to KZGs BTW.

        Rubycon ZLG 6.3v 1000uF 10x12.5mm
        Rubycon ZLH 16v 1800uF 10x23mm

Unfortunately, Topcat's shop doesn't seem to have these.

I've also found a solid polymer on RS and I wonder if these can replace the KZG 1000uF.

PS. The top part of the exploded cap was slightly opened and there was some liquid oozing out of there. I haven't noticed any other damage aside from the small mark (probably due to the corrosive liquid?) on the cooler of my graphics card (on the plastic area which stands directly on top of that capacitor).

Yesterday I received the Nichicon caps I had ordered from Topcat's shop. Took 10 days to arrive. Just FYI.

Agreed, I install 10's of thousands of caps each year, similar to Topcat, and I have never seen or even heard of a failed KZE, can you double check that writing on the cap again?
