    need help for a7s8x-mx

    i recapped the MOBO anf it worked fine i changed all bad caps with higher voltage and capacitance... working very stable on the duron 950 proc... the board it clocked as 133Mhz... the problems icant make the board work on my original sempron 2200...


    help please....


    whats the good replacement for 840uf 6.3V?

      Which caps on the mobo, what brand of caps, and what series of caps were present originally? What did you replace each with (brand, series)? Details are required...

      820/6.3 Electrolytics at the VRM output can usually be replaced by a wide range of low-ESR and ultra-low ESR electrolytics. Rubycon MBZ, MCZ, ZL, ZLH, YXG, YXH; Panasonic FC, FK, FM; Nichicon PX, PW, HD, HE; Sanyo WG; etc. Check out the list of recommended capacitors for more details.

      OTOH, 820/6.3 Sanyo OSCONs have to be replaced by equivalent OSCONs or much-larger valued Electrolytics to be able to handle the higher ripple current that the OSCONs can handle. Likewise for Fujitsu SPAs.

          1000uf 6.3v or 10v caps will be fine for them. 840 or 820uf is an awkward value that's not easy to find for that voltage rate. OSCOn cap is another matter, but i dont sure they are OSCON caps.
          days are so short when you actually do something..

              There have been suggestions for derating polymer electrolytics to below the rated values. I've seen documents that recommended this and some that indicate that derating isn't required. The documents recommending derating are often old or refer to old documents. Do polymer caps of this type still require derating for reliability?

              If they require derating, why would the manufacturer give them their rated voltage?

              This is the basic type of capacitor I'm referring to and included simply to eliminate other caps that use similar names.

              I'm looking for suggestions for electrolytics that are 10mm diameter and up to 25mm tall, through-hole radial capacitors with 5mm lead spacing. The value needs to be in the range of 330uF to 470uF. I typically use 35v caps due to their lower ESR vs 16v caps. Currently, the Panasonic FC is being used but the FM series is under consideration.

              This is for the primary side of a switching power supply in a car audio amplifier.

              Is there a way to calculate power dissipation in a capacitor to predict which will operate at a lower temperature? For example, a 470uF may have a...

              I replaced all electrolytics in subwoofer, still get a hum in speakers - audio clip

              I get a faint, low hum through my PC speakers, which connect to the subwoofer in a 2.1 speaker system. The hum drives me crazy and makes me stressed. When I turn off the subwoofer, everything is quiet and I start to relax, lol.

              I recorded with my phone's mic right next to the speaker, and the mic picked up a lot of speaker noise over top of the hum. But I don't hear that noise in the room, I just hear the lower-pitched hum that's buried beneath all the other...

              Goodmorning.

              I have a curiosity: can low voltage/capacity electrolytic capacitors (e.g. 16V/47uf) last longer than high voltage / capacity ones (e.g. 63V/2200uf)?

              I ask because many threads indicate a life of electrolytics that does not go beyond 15 years (it seems to me that Panasonic has written something in its documents), but I have several musical instruments bought in 1980 that work perfectly: they have inside them many small electrolytics. I tried asking an electrical engineering friend to unsolder some and measure them, and these were incredibly within spec....

              What are the 'actual' effects of old electrolytics in a vintage radio?

              Hi all.

              Just trying to get a better understanding of electronics in general, and although I know that it can be general practice to replace any electrolytics in vintage gear, I was wondering 'what' are the effects from these failed components?

              I can see that a shorted cap acts as a short circuit and therefore a power drain, but what else might it cause?

              Similarly, an open cap won't be smoothing any signals but is there anything else?


              I'm sure this is basic 101 but I'm not at school, so just learning as I blow things up...
