I replaced all electrolytics in subwoofer, still get a hum in speakers - audio clip

I get a faint, low hum through my PC speakers, which connect to the subwoofer in a 2.1 speaker system. The hum drives me crazy and makes me stressed. When I turn off the subwoofer, everything is quiet and I start to relax, lol.

Here's an audio clip of the sound coming from my speakers:

    https://vocaroo.com/16HaryHwTx78

I recorded with my phone's mic right next to the speaker, and the mic picked up a lot of speaker noise over top of the hum. But I don't hear that noise in the room, I just hear the lower-pitched hum that's buried beneath all the other noise. I boosted the volume of the clip by 20db before uploading it, but you may still need to turn-up the volume to hear the hum.

At 12 seconds into the clip, I turn-off the speaker system with a button that's on the subwoofer. Then all the noise and hum goes quiet. I turn the speaker system on again at around 15 seconds into the clip.

I recently replaced all the electrolytics in this subwoofer, per this thread I made about it here (photos of the board are there):

I'm wondering if there's something more I can do to get rid of that hum. If there isn't, maybe I just need to buy a new speaker system. Though, I really like this one, I think it sounds excellent. But that constant hum makes me feel stressed.

The hum is a clear indicator that you have a grounding problem most likely a ground loop. The speaker noise is also higher than normal for a 2.1 PC speaker system for your phone mic to be able to pick it up.

Usually it's because the outlet you're powering the speaker or the computer from is sharing with another appliance(s) with a grounding issue. Try turning them off one by one and check if the noise and hum disappear from your speaker.

Have you tried other audio signal source? What about shorting the signal input to ground?

p.s. Download spectrum analyzer app and see what frequency is the hum - is it 50/60hz, 100/120hz.. ?

Removing electrical noise introduced by fan
        by tony359
        Hi all,

I am working on a sound processor, it tends to overheat so I fitted a fan inside. The fan is connected to the +15V of the PSU via a DC-DC converter based on the LM2596 to reduce the voltage to around 10.5V.

Unfortunately the analogue circuitry is picking up the noise from the fan in two ways:
        1. The fan is close to the analogue section, the motor itself gets into the outputs so I'll have to move it somewhere else
        2. Even with the fan running outside of the case, there is still some noise which is clearly going back to the processor via power line....

Onkyo TX-SR805 noise in one channel

Surprisingly enough, this receiver doesn't have the DSP chip issue. The HDMI board does not get hot, and sound over HDMI works fine.

Regardless of the input, the right channel has noise that is clearly noticeable even on average volume level. The only cases when there's no noise is when VCR input is selected (some tracks on the board are damaged, maybe that's why), or if HDMI input is selected but nothing plugged into it. In all other cases, even when no input is connected I still have the noise.

There's some logic behind it. As soon as I select an input I get only left...

Please help, subwoofer connected to tv, read description below
        by rustinjust
I've got a subwoofer that I've had for nearly 20 years, it did come with a basic remote which I've lost. It's a generic make of subwoofer, I can't see a brand sticker on it. It comes with 2 speakers.

Question recently I've connected it up to my tv which has greatly improved the sound on my tv, however I'd like to be able to mute the subwoofer when ads come on or just mute it when the phone rings etc. I tried using a cheap all in one tv remote on the subwoofer and the volume button would only work to increase volume but not turn it down or mute it

        Is there a way of...

        Hi all,
this unit comes from a samsumg LCD TV LE32C530F1W which stopped working after making a strong noise like something was exploded inside of it.
I opened it and found that fuse FP801S was blown, capacitor CP814 was completely disintegrated and MOSFET QP801S was shorted.
I replaced all of them and instead of the fuse I connected a 100 Watt bulb. Then, without connecting it to other TV boards, I switched it on, but the bulb begun to blink.
I thought that maybe the bulb was somehow interfering with the normal operation of the power supply, so I replaced it with a fuse,...
