Is this Dell's work?

We have on average about 200 gx270-280's on hand that we recap then re-sell. During a routine inspection I came across this, first one I have seen so far like this and this is straight from a Dell distributor.
Could this be the original work of Dell or a rework along a line somewhere?
Notice also the spiked heat sink that is normally there is gone or even never existed? Anyone ever seen one like this from Dell?
And why only 2 poly caps along the cpu instead of all 9?

Manufacturers mix polymer and non-polymer caps all the time for CPU VRM. Nothing unusual there. As for whether it's unusual for that board, I can't say...I don't see that many business systems.

The electrolytics look like KZV caps. I've seen them in a lot of Dimension 8400 systems with hot-running Prescotts. I haven't seen a failure yet, so I'd guess they're reliable.

Speaking of Dimension 8400 motherboards, I just compared your photo to a Dimension 8400 board I have in the scrap pile. Identical, from your photo of the one portion. What's the part number on the board? Is it possible the GX280 board was swapped at some point for a different model's board which just happened to fit?
