    Need help finding replacement cap

    Hello,
    My samsung tv wouldn't turn on so I did some digging and discovered it was most likely a bad capacitor. So I opened up the back and lo and behold one of them was bulging. So I removed it from the board, but I am extremely hesitant to buy a replacement since I have never done so before, and don't want it to be the wrong one.
    Therefore I figured I would turn to the experts here and ask for some help.

    The TV is a samsung 32" LCD, here are some pics of the capacitor I removed:

    So what I could ascertain from looking at it...
    Made by SamWha (I think model is XC?)
    2200 uf
    105 degrees celsius (M) which I think is max temp?
    10 Volt
    height is a little under 1" (maybe like .94)
    diameter is a little over 3/8ths of an inch.

    I went to digikey.com and tried to narrow the results down, but I still had like 12 results so I was not sure, since they had different ripple currents.

    ANY help would be greatly appreciated, like I said I don't want to do more harm.

      A couple of things: which board did this cap come from? XC is the series, which is not posted on their website (maybe a custom order?). Can size by your description would be 10mm diameter by 25mm height. Replacement would depend on where the cap(s) appear, but safe bets would be Panasonic FC or Nichicon HE (assuming you have clearance for another 5mm in height). If these are from your power supply board, and the TV is more than a couple of years old, you might want to replace the rest of the caps as well while you have it open.

      A couple of other suggestions: This thread should probably be in the TV section, and you should list the model of the TV so that it will help others. You should also read the FAQ on posting pictures! Use the "Manage Attachments" button when posting instead of using offsite linking.

          First, please don't post images inline as they slow down loading of pages. Use the manage attachments instead.

              Thanks for the swift reply, I will most likely buy the panasonic one and see how that works out, but I figured I would answer your questions first just in case

              So its coming from the power supply board, I took some pictures of that too:

              The rest of the caps look pretty good, so I think I will just replace the one broken one (even though I realize it is a better idea to replace all of them).

                          I was not giving you an ultimatum. I was just stating that you had 30 minutes to edit posts.

                          Inline images are problematic for everyone. They slowdown loading pages. Everytime I come back to visit this thread, I have to wait for all images to get loaded and resized. On a 9 inch netbook, it makes it impossible to read the thread.

                          Recently, one person loaded 12MB and had another 48MB worth of useless pictures ready to load. Imagine the time it takes to load 60MB just to read one post.

                          edit: PS. If I wasn't nice, I would not have responded or helped you at all with your questions. It takes time to find these answers. None of us here get paid to answer these questions. We all volunteer our precious time and knowledge.

                              lol he want trying to be rude. the forum is set up that you can only edit your post withing 30 minutes, then you cant edit anymore.

                              about your tv:i recommend you replace all those caps they are all crap brands.

                                  The way it was phrased came off to me as an ultimatum, but now I understand what he was saying.
                                  In regards to my TV, I really just need help finding the replacement for the cap I showed in the first post, just to get this baby up and running again

                                      yes but do you want to have to open it up in a year and do this again 5 more times? and risk damaging other components inside if all the caps die?

                                          Since it's on the power supply board, definitely use lower ESR caps. Shovenose pointed out one that BCN sells here which is a perfect fit and helps support this site. The Panasonic and Nichicon I linked are larger and may not fit (please double check!). If you do end up ordering from Digikey, don't forget to use First Class shipping. It's the cheapest, and usually one of the faster ways to get it.

                                          Up to you of course! The only problem is that you don't know if the others are broken by only visually inspecting them, and as Shovenose says, this could end up stressing other components and causing more damage down the road. In any case, hope it fixes your issue!
