The board is BN44-00438B and the cap is completely fried. I searched for a schematic but had no luck. The location ID is CP802. Can anyone tell me its value? Thanx.

Re: Samsung power supply Capacitor
The location of the capacitor may help in determining what it was and what it can be replaced with. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Do you mean CP820? http://assets.shopjimmy.com/media/ca...438b-front.jpg
If it is, lt looks part of the snubber circuit, need to see the bottom traces to find out.Never stop learning

Re: Samsung power supply Capacitor
Sorry, I do not, since it is part of the Snubber circuit, do not run the board without the cap in place, you may damage the MOSFET.Never stop learning

Re: Samsung power supply Capacitor
Sorry this is an old thread, but it seems very much like the issue I'm running into with my Samsung LN46b630N1 LCD tv. I was watching the other night, heard a loud pop, and everything went black. I'm very much an amateur at this type of thing, but after doing some research it sounded like the same capacitors go bad on a lot of these Samsung LCD's and there was a lot of info on how to replace them, so I popped the back off. Unfortunately, (or fortunately I guess) all the capacitors that I expected to be bad looked fine at first glance. After further inspection, I found another part (which I've now learned is a ceramic disc capacitor) that had burn marks around it, and seems to be partially melted.
The capacitor reads R221 1KV. I've tried searching it, but the only thing I even found on Google was one ebay posting from Taiwan selling a 100 pack of them for $2.90. Well since I don't need 100 of them, and I would prefer not to wait for shipping from Taiwan, I thought I would turn to the experts to see if there is anything else I can use in its place.
I've attached a picture of the the board itself (BN44-00265B) with the capacitor in question outlined in red. To me, it looks like something just as easy to replace as the other capacitors, but I haven't found much online about replacing this type. I'm not sure if that means that when it goes bad, it's for some other reason, or if it's just not as common for these to go bad. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated.

Re: Samsung power supply Capacitor
Great! Thank you for your reply. I am looking to buy this locally somewhere, so I can get it fixed sooner than having it shipped if possible. Of the 3 numbers (220pF, 5%, and 1KV) which ones need to be exact, and which (if any) can be adjusted? I found that Microcenter has a capacitor assortment set. In the product description, it mentions that there are 220pF capacitors, but doesn't specify which KV or %.
From your response, it looks like I do need 220pF, and either 1 KV or 2 KV? is there any other KV that would work if those aren't options? Also, what's the range on the % that will work, or is that dependent on the KV of the capacitor?
Sorry for my ignorance. As I'm sure you can tell, I'm very new to this, and thanks again for any input.

Re: Samsung power supply Capacitor
"Of the 3 numbers (220pF, 5%, and 1KV) which ones need to be exact," the 220pf and 1KV. 10% will be fine.
This is commonly failed part so go with higher Voltage will be best, but minImum 1KV.Never stop learning

Re: Samsung power supply Capacitor
Thanks again for the reply. Microcenter didn't have what I was looking for, so I visited another electronics supply store today. Unfortunately, neither did they. They recommended ordering it online. The guy there DID find a 250pF 1KV capacitor in stock. He gave it to me at no charge, because he didn't know for sure if it would work. Do you see any reason not to try this one? Is there any risk of harming other parts on the board, or would it just not work? I don't mind ordering the correct ones online, but if this one may work, I would like to try it.
The markings on the one he gave me are:
X5E
250K
1KV
Thanks once more for all the help. It's really appreciated.

Re: Samsung power supply Capacitor
250pF will be fine, just make sure for sure that it is rating at 1KV and it is CERAMIC DISC cap.
BTW, that is X5E (-55°C to +85°C, +/- 4.7% of capacitance change).
I still recommend:

Re: Samsung power supply Capacitor
Alright, I installed the 250pF capacitor, just to try it out. Plugged the TV back in, and.... nothing. Reopened the TV and tested the fuses. It turns out, one is fine, but the other is bad. The markings on the bad ceramic fuse read T6.3AH250VP. I've found a couple obscure websites selling that part number, but was surprised not to find it on the Mouser site, as it seems like they have most everything. Am I searching wrong?
Since it seems I won't be able to find it locally, I will probably order it, along with the caps you recommended. I was mainly trying to get this turned around quickly, but if I'm waiting for shipping anyway, I will go with the right caps.
Thanks

You should also check the component mounted on the heatsink next to that cap to make sure they are not shorted.Last edited by budm; 02-26-2015, 03:33 PM.Never stop learning
