HDMI to Component. Is it possible?

My friend has an Xbox One that he would like to use with his old TV. He doesn't want to get rid of his widescreen 27" Toshiba CRT. I don't blame him, the picture is beautiful! The issue is that it only has S-Video and YPbPr for video. Is there a cable or converter box that will do this with decent quality? I have mostly seen issues and complaints looking online. Appreciate any input

im afraid u'll need some kind of a DAC video signal converter box because hdmi carries a digital signal while component video is actually analogue. u are at the mercy of how well the DAC chip that does the conversion is designed. obviously, china brands wont be at the top of the list...

even if the crt gives a nice picture, a junk DAC converter will just ruin the picture...

Thanks for the replies everyone No SCART plug unfortunately. I found one on eBay that is less than 20 miles away http://www.ebay.com/itm/Portta-PETRH...YAAOSwA3dYWgi3

It says component to HDMI. Would it go the other way?

You want the box with HDMI INPUT that takes the HDMI output of your game to feed to the black box and convert it to component Video output to feed your old TV.

Re: HDMI to Component. Is it possible?

So what you're saying is that they're not bidirectional and has to be specifically HDMI>Component conversion?
