Have to tried taking apart the fan by removing the retaining washer? There might actually be a ball bearing on the other side.
Label says "ball bearing" without the "s". Technically that means one ball bearing only. Some carefully chosen words by the manufacturer, I guess .
The red ring, though... that's bad to see it like that. It should be under the retaining washer, not on top of it.
Otherwise this fan looks allright to use as a case fan.
this thing has typical end play of the sleeve bearing it is.maybe there is a bb in the other side of the housing.as in 1 ball!
at least this one has a rubber plug to give it at least a chance of holding the oil i added.
Yeah the rubber plug does make a difference. The ones without it are a mess after you remove the sticker. Oil gets on it and you can put it back on which makes the fan almost useless as it has to be oiled frequently.
If you actually add oil to that fan above, it's best to take it appart and give some to the ball bearing. Makes worn and noisy ones quiet for a while. Those plastic retaining washers are also really easy to remove with a small screwdriver.
Not the best fan available but slightly better than the lower end sleeve bearing fans. It would be a cost effective solution for applications not demanding high reliability in my opinion.
