by speggio91Hello everyone,
I've started to practise more on macbooks air board, I've got a bunch of defective ones, to see if I can gain some more knowledge.
I've been focused on a water damaged board of an 2017 Air.
Someone else already worked on it, the SMC has been reflowed plus some minor reflows around the board.
I've reached a dead end but I improved the state of the board.
Initially it was no power, no green light, no fan spin, stuck at S5 state.
After replacing some components (U7090, Q5500, Q7430, C7432, Q7630, U1950, R6115, R6116,... -
by TELVMHi guys!
I'm recapping this PSU and I'm not sure about what to do with those three small guys that I've labelled with the number '3':
They're 50V 1uF Junk Fus(thus crying out loud for replacement
), but the thing is I don't have any 50V 1uF caps at hand. However I have some Pannys FC 50V 2.2uF around.
What would you do?:
1) Replace the 1uF crap with the 2.2uF good ones.
2) Leave the 1uF Junk Fus and pray for the best long-term ...

- When turned on and placed into cooling mode, the upper fan (cold air out) just spins slowly. The compressor and lower fan do not run.
- If the device is then placed into heating mode and then back into cooling mode, the lower fan and compressor kick in and start cooling, but the upper fan still only spins slowly.
- If the device is placed into fan-only mode, the upper fan does not respond to low/medium/high speed toggles - just keeps running slowly.
- Display and buttons all behave normally aside from the

by shovenoseGot this one for free because, well, it no worky.
A little research and there are tons of complaints all over forums/the internet about premature failure of these switches. The observation everyone makes about these is "they run hot" and failure occurring as soon as 13 months, right out of warranty, of course.
Upon removal of the cover I found a G0398-15011480A power supply that, when plugged in, was making a constant ticking noise. Multimeter confirmed the PSU was the issue. Output was cycling between 0 and about 20V. With output disconnected it sat around...-
