Hello everyone,
I am trying to fix an Asus Dual rx5700.
This card has all the correct voltages. It is also recognized when using iGpu.
However when plugged in and BIOS is set to use Gpu for output the computer will hang before post. Error Led stays on the motherboard. Also the fans stop spinning after a while.
I tried reflashing the Bios which did not change anything.
I also tried checking the vrams but so far all I got was initialization errors.
Does anybody have any ideas? Also what would be the correct way to check the memory modules?...
Thank you to the guys at HEGE supporting Badcaps [ HEGE ] [ HEGE DEX Chart ]

Re: Palit GTX 970 Jetstream - HDMI works, Displayports give no signal
This is very weird but the problem is now gone.
Didn't do anything, just wanted to check the cable since you mentioned it. Cable was ok. Plugged the card back in, with only DP connected, restarted the computer and boom had a BIOS screen.
I am not sure, maybe it was a driver / BIOS issue that required a reboot to sort itself out. Will try again with HDMI first and then switching to see if that was the problem.
Anyhow, thanks a lot for your help.

Palit GTX 970 Jetstream - HDMI works, Displayports give no signal
I have a Palit GTX 970 Jetstream, which is working perfectly when connected through HDMI (well this one has mHDMI and mDPs).
However I can not get a picture out of any of the three mini Display Ports.
I already updated the card bios and drivers and also tried the Nvidia Display Port update.
Does anybody have any suggestions regarding how I can diagnose this card further?
Thanks

Re: RX580 Gigabyte Gaming 8GB - Micron - Boots only if I do the BIOS short
Well I have absolutely no expertise in this area, this was just my train of thought. However it is a fact that when those pins are shorted this card boots somehow. I am just curious to understand what is happening.
Might be worthwhile to check with an oscilloscope what is happening on data pins with and without the short....

Re: RX580 Gigabyte Gaming 8GB - Micron - Boots only if I do the BIOS short
Here is my theory about this error, I may be very well wrong but I'll give it a go.
Pin 1 of the BIOS is the enable signal. It is active low
I am assuming that your shorting of the pins (1-5) is somehow grounding the pin 1 therefore the chip gets enabled. Therefore the card is able to boot. I am not sure of the model of your bios chip but maybe grounding pin 1 (short to pin 4) would have the same effect? Not sure
If the above assumption is correct than it means that the Enable signal...

Re: MSI 1050 Ti - Recognized but no display
Hi there,
I realized that my test setup was testing the integrated GPU and not the actual card. I used a MATS version which was setup to run blindly, disabled integrated GPU and re-run the test. Then I got a clear FAIL on one of the chips.
But no I still have not repaired the card since I do not have a replacement memory chip.

Re: ASUS Expedition Radeon RX570. ASP 1106 pinout
Thanks for the quick reply.
This was also the information I found online.
But what stumped me is this: According to the Realtek website here:
https://www.richtek.com/Products/Vcore/amd-vcore/RT8894A.aspx
RT8894A is a 56-pin device. But the controller on this card is a 52pin device.

Is my understanding somehow wrong?Re: ASUS Expedition Radeon RX570. AS... found online....

ASUS Expedition Radeon RX570. ASP 1106 pinout
I have an ASUS expedition 570. This card has a VRM controller marked Digi+ EPU. ASP1106.
I know this is a proprietary chip but I really need a pinout. Is anyone aware of what this chip is and what would be its non-proprietary equivalent.
Thanks for any help.

Re: RTX3070 not detected/ no display - has all voltages and pex reset question
I am really a newbie so somebody let me know if I am writing non-sense.
That being said since this pin is connected to the logic gate could it be possible that the logic gate has failed? Otherwise you should be reading a higher resistance on the pin. Maybe remove the logic gate and check again?
The line then should be open and measurement on the riser should be 3.3V

Re: Asus 2070 super - Low resistance on PCI-E channels
Thanks for the advice.
I redid the test as you explained using the diode mode. For the first lane RX0, diode measurement was reading open line. For the rest it was ok 0,5 and 0,3 as you mentioned.
Therefore it seems that the GPU itself is gone. If anyone has any further suggestions would be happy to hear.

Re: RTX3070 not detected/ no display - has all voltages and pex reset question
PEX_RST* is active low. Meaning that for the card to work you need a high signal. (When it is low RESET is active). I believe high signal is 1.8V for this case but I may be wrong.
Since you have no input on U501 and U503 is before that I would check U503.
Is 3.3V present on pin 1 and 2?
If so, you are getting correct RST from PCI but there is a issue with logic gates. If not you are not getting out of reset from the PCI but why and how that would happen is beyond my kn...

Asus 2070 super - Low resistance on PCI-E channels
I am currently diagnosing an Asus Dual 2070 super.
The card has all the volt rails and all resistances seem to be ok.
I checked for PEXReset and the and gate is outputting 1.8V.
Main problem that I found about this card is that the resistance values of the first two PCI Express lanes (A13 and A14) have lower resistances compared to all other lanes.
Since there are no components between the PCI-E slot and the GPU, would this mean that the GPU itself is dead ?
Thanks for any help.

Re: MSI 1050 Ti - Recognized but no display
I think I have finally managed to run MATS.
The test shows all read errors on all chips. I do not really know how to interpret this results. Hopefully I am running these tests correctly.
Would this mean that the memory controller is dead and therefore the GPU?
Or could this be caused by something else? (wrong BIOS??)
Thanks for any suggestions.

I have an MSI 1050 Ti 4GB OC Edition, that I am trying to repair.

Re: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GV-N105TD5-4GD
Hello,
I have the same card with some similar problems. But I can confirm that the card is being detected in Windows (when I start with the Integrated Graphics).
@dicky96 Where could the problem lie if the problem is with DVI/HDMI?
I also noticed that installing drivers (when installed as a secondary GPU) crashes the computer. Does this mean a faulty GPU?
Thanks for any help
