• Re: Screen Replacement for A2337

I'm unsure if this is still accurate as of 6/13/2023, but regarding a used genuine Apple M1 Display for 2020 machines:

Even if you manage to get a genuine replacement unit, the serial number located in the LCD I/C will be different that your logic board's serial number. M1 models pair the LCD to the Logicboard. This mismatch disables True Tone functionality. There is currently no way to program the LCD I/C to the logic board's serial number, like you can easily do with iphones.

Can someone who has replaced these with Genuine...

• Re: 820-00840-A CD3215 short

You mentioned earlier that you were not getting 1.1V LDO.

There are 2 CD3215s. What about the other LDO?
One of these CD3215s is used as slave and the other as master. It is normal to have no voltage on one of them, but not on both.
PP1V1_UPC_XA_LDO_BMC
PP1V1_UPC_XB_LDO_BMC

Also, if one CD3215 doesn't work it causes the other to power cycle after starting USB-PD negotiation. Can you confirm?Re: 820-00840-A CD3215 short

@mon2
aren't these CD3215s supposed to be replaced in pairs from my recall?
Also pay special attention to the actual part number:
CD3215B03 will not work in place of a CD3215C00

• Re: Macbook 820-01700 Stuck at 5V

PPBUS_G3H should be 12.63V
If PPBUS_G3H is 12.32V, T2 chip is stuck in DFU mode.
What is your exact PPBUS_G3H reading (to two decimal places please)
As usual, @mon2 is spot on, alluding to this pattern in post #9.

There is actually no reason to activate the SSD lines at this time because in DFU mode, the data from the host computer is communicated directly into the T2-rom chip (IBridgeOS updates etc..) and doesn't need the use of the NAND at the moment.
Looks like you already tested R5220...

Re: T2 Chip Programmer Tool

The chip he is referring to is the U4770 SOC ROM IC located on the A1932 and A2179 boards.

They are Macronix MX25U3235F, but the same kinds are also made by the Winbond company. Just different manufacturer.

How are you running the "jailbreak", if you aren't in DFU mode? (step 4. of your instructions)...

@Stephen, I'm curious when you say "run the jailbreak", do you mean the minaT2Activator.app found on the golden USB?; You mentioned earlier in the post, this has already been patched.
Also, others have tried this and they are getting an "SSH" connection timout. So yes, it is patched.
Maybe I am confusing "jailbreak" with "bypass".

Also, are you writing back to the T2 your ROM with the mina-serial or are you writing back to the T2 the actual .BIN that came in the golden USB....

You mentioned this chip was defective. How do you know? What was you diagnostic approach?

Thank you.

I suppose if someone 2 to 3 months from now reviews their icloud account and says "Oh wait, I sold that macbook a long time ago, I don't need this as part of my devices" and they remove it, then you have cleared the icloud lock!

• Re: Macbook Pro a1708 820-00840 no power

Greetings @mon2

I'm curious, did you mean 3.3V? or indeed 3.42V. There are no PP3V42 rails on the 2018-2020 class computers that uses USB-C as far as I know;
PP3V42_G3H is of course the 1st and mandatory rail on the boards that have magsafe 2/green-light on charger (eg ~ A1466)....

agree with @mon2

Before we blame the CD3215, we have to make absolutely sure we have power to the CD3215s.

PP3V3_G3H is generated by U6990, it can be measured at R6999. This is a mandatory rail before power up the 15s.

However, in order for U6990 to generate 3.3V, it needs an "enable" signal from the ISL9239 (U7000).
This enable signal can be measured at PM_EN_P3V3_G3H_R located on R6991, basically pin #10 of the U6990.

However, in order for U6990 to do any...

Hello everyone!

Just trying to understand some terminology: "icloud lock" vs. "Activation lock"

1. When they speak of "icloud locked". Does this mean that someone who owned the laptop has purposely locked their machine to prevent anyone else from using it? In other words, is it something that someone has to do in the settings menu?

2. For example, a macbook air 2020, A2179 purchased second hand from someone who forgot to disengage their apple ID from their device, does this mean the...
