          Hi,

I just found this interesting forum while looking for repair tips for a computer monitor. I am from germany. In electronics my main interest is vintage computing hardware, like the C64 and all the others. I have a degree in electrical engineering and work as specialist for computer controlled measurement devices.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hello everyone, I'm sure I'll be booted from this forum as soon as my post is read, but...really wanted to get this out there because I dislike be scammed. I initially signed up for this forum because I was asked to by a parts dealer named Anthony at Replacementvparts.com. The guy seemed like an honest Joe and was very helpful as he walked me through a bunch of tests on my LCD TV before he attempted to sell me parts. Then offered me a pair of backlight inverters, master and slave, for $35 and change plus $14 shipping. Well, i waited for the parts and was sure he would honor our agreement and my purchase..which was charged to my account. I received 1 backlight inverter from a wharehouse in Cali. Of course I was told my parts would come by FedEx, which they didn't and any attempt to contact this guy completely failed. Doesn't return calls or email. Huge kick in the nards for me as I had hoped that this guy was legit. So, I will give him kudos for taking the time to run me through a bunch of tests on my set and a big fat DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS GUY as the feedback he wanted me to post about him here! Thanks for your time, thought you should know he's asking folks to boost his business through your site and what a crook he really is...

                Hello!

My name's Joseph. I've been a long-time lurker here. Having learned a few things from badcaps, and fixing a few things in the process, I decided I wanted to join the community. =)

Hi Folks - Came here initially because of a problem with a Dell LCD I got from a dumpster dive (I didn't expect it to be working...). 7 caps later I've got an image, but now another issue so the adventure continues. Thanks for the resources, lots of good info here.

Hello all. Frankly I am joining because I have a question but I have to introduce myself before I can post. I am sure I will stick around as I like to fix things. My profession has nothing to do with electronics but I have learned a few things over the years. I am also a woodworker. Right now I am trying to fix the electronic brake on a motor. Need to replace a bad cap and a resistor.

Hi all, Keith here.....been working with electronics since tech school in 1984. Got my Associates in electronics & computer in 88. Since then, been working as a tech for a Photocopier sales & service company (25 yrs this Jan). I service Canon & Sharp copiers as well as manage IT at our company. Back in the day, worked on Tube TV's in my spare time......haven't had much experience with the LCD's yet (fixed one Vizio for my mother-in-law and a DELL monitor).

Looking for a good resource and help for continuing to repair TV's/monitors. Hope that maybe I can help or get some assistance from other members!

                          Thanks for having me!!

                            Hi all,

Matt from Manchester here! Looking forward to helping, and hopefully getting some assistance with Plasma and LCD repair. I obtained my C&G 224 TV Servicing way back in 1994 and went on into the IT industry as a Cisco consultant around 1999. In my spare time I still like to keep my hands on with electronics.

                            Cheers :-)

Hi, I registered here because I got a lot of useful info from your forums in the past, and i've been meaning to register a long time ago, but I'm just that lazy Currently trying to repair a bad PSU that won't switch on. Hopefully it's just the caps that went bad, because i'm not that good with electronics, It is more of a hobby of mine, but I learn something new everyday. Good day to you all, greetings from Slovenia.

                                      Hello there;

New to this forum and it seems to have a great deal of good information. Just finished reading all 22 pages of the " A guide to fixing/troubleshooting some common plasma TV problems" (18 pages of "start a new thread", lol.) Hats off to tom66 for his patients and information!

hello! I'm just a guy trying to fix my Samsung HP-T4234 (model code: HPT4234X/XXA).

I'm experiencing the dreaded (and much discussed) clicky clicky issue.. TV never turns on.

While I don't have a degree in EE, I did manage to get the back of the TV off and I'm pretty sure what the issue is - as the board has some pretty obvious black marks on it.

When I'm eligible, I'll put up a post to get everyone's expert opinion.

Thanks much for creating and maintaining this site!
