Hi guys, glad to be here, while I'm no certified professional, actually I work in IT, I do like to repair phones, up to now I've been mostly doing parts replacement, but I also want to delve into the microelectronics part, I've always wanted to do so, and now I'll be taking the jump as I try to repair a Galaxy S10 that I have at home, it was victim to a voltage surge, so hopefully it's only doing a reflux or replacing pmic :P

                        Hi,

My name is Steve. Historically I've been known as "dEwMe" on the web and in social circles. I have a LONG history of IT support. I started in 95 at Gateway 2000 and was a Senior Technician in the Laptop Service department. I worked there for 8.5 years until they went for cheaper support down South. Since I picked up an A.A.S. in System Administration AND Network Administration. I've worked 8+ years at PREMIER Bankcard/First Premier Bank. EROS Data Center for USGS, SONIFI, The Veterans Administration Healthcare System, and others. Other than my first Packard Bell 386SX and a few premade Gateway systems, I have built all my desktops over the years, so I am not new at any of this. I am constantly disgusted by the tech industry companies that strive not to be better than the other guys, just not worse. Oh, I am an ARMY Veteran as well.
                        I guess that's it.

                        Thanks,
                        Steve (dEwMe)

I've always loved taking apart electronics and admiring the work, recently I've even started putting them back together :p

Greetings Pteabyte, Moderators and fellow members,

I have dabbled in computers and electronics since 1983 spending many hours hanging out in the computer store next to my house and at my brothers electronics factory. I am a tinkerer/hacker in every sense of the word. I have always been fascinated about how something works or why it has stopped working. No formal training just a natural curiosity.
I have been in and out of forums over the years. I don't claim to be an expert and see myself as a forever student. But will contribute where I feel I may have value to add.
I was interesting to read through the introductions starting back at 2003 and see how they have changed over time. Congratulations to building a strong community and making it too and beyond your 20th aniversary! Interestingly (to me), this forum commenced when my military service was coming to an end due to a few of my own "bad caps". Lol🤣😂

Hello everyone! kinda of techie, depends on who asks haha, my formal education was in computer science, but never finished the degree. I stumbled into repair electronics working in an arcade and currently help run a computer repair shop. I've enjoyed tinkering for as long as I can remember; I have always told myself that id be an engineer if I didn't have to take loads of Physics classes. Currently learning the ins and out of how the motherboards work at a component level and so far it has been fascinating can't wait to learn more.
