    Hi,
I found Badcaps while looking for info on identifying the EEPROM on a Palsonic 80 cm TV/ DVD Combo. Not much info online on that brand.
Have taken to salvaging discarded units after successfully fixing a 46" Samsung that had been tossed out. It had Bad caps and I found out just by using Google!
I have always been interested in Electronics and it dates back to days of valve radios.
Recently, I've built a HTPC and an i5 PC.
My latest project is to build a fridge door alarm using Arduino.

Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi All - just coming up to 71 so retired six years now. Electrical engineer from Kings, London 1964-1967. First job at Marconi in Portsmouth. Elsewhere circa 1978 designed quite a few bits of electronics including Z80 based interfaces between (materials testing) machines and DEC PDP11s including coding. Also IEEE488 based electronics. Drifted into software and found I could 'correct' problems on site when installing customer systems (although the software engineers didn't like it!). Worked in Boston MA for a year with Instron Corp.
Fixed quite a few TVs in the early days while still at school, including valve TVs (EF80 etc) where I got quite a shock from a live chassis! Also remember sealing a leak from a LOPT fitted inside an oil-filled can.
Most recently have a number of Panasonic Home Theatre systems (2 of mine & 2 with friends). Currently working on repair of an SA-BT230 which has an F61 error connected with the amplifier board. Hoping it is due to a faulty capacitor. I'm searching the threads because I think I saw one from Jan or Feb 2015 with the same fault. Can anyone direct me to this thread please? Also have 2 42" Panasonic TVs and 2 also got on eBay for friends.
Also into Trix trains - my father bought a set for me around 1954.
Still play squash and love Opera and Ballet!

                          Hi all,
I have nothing to offer but thanks. Especially TOM66 who shared his knowledge and now I'm looking for a tiny fuse instead of a 40" monitor. I hope there is such thing as karma and all the guys that take the time to share their knowledge are rewarded.
Keep looking in the mirror and checking out how big my smile is.
Thanks again and again and again

I'm a computer enthusiast who never had the time to pursue this to the full extent but it still remained my passion. I'm a scientist now and I deal with electronics and programing on a daily level, but I still rely on specialists for heavy-duty stuff.
Hope I will find a lot of interesting stuff here.
