Great forum. I found it while searching help to repair a Sony Bravia KLV-S40A10, quite an old tv set but... Still didn't find the fault but got some interesting thoughts here how it works.

HI everybody. I'm a musician with a home studio that's been building DIY synths and such for about 15 years. I've had quite a bit of luck repairing broken music gear and am looking to learn more.

Greetings, great forum. I am a retired electrical engineer with background in data communications/data networking. Always had a interest in component level repair of electronics, but career went a different direction. Hope to learn from all the expertise on this site and thanks for allowing me to participate.

                Hello,
Joined because my Vizio m47onv died the other night. We were watching it, there was a pop and it died. Now the Vizio logo will light up to orange but the unit will not turn on. I pulled the power cord and let it sit over night but that didn't help. After looking through the thread on the blinking logo I have taken the back off the unit and found no obviously damaged parts. I am going to start troubleshooting the boards as a "project" and would welcome any help or suggestions on how to proceed and where to start.

                Thanks

Hello! My name is Erin, and I am the fix-it person in our household. I can't always fix things myself, but I like to at least try (or at the very least, go to a professional technician with a little knowledge so we can save time). Joined because I have an immediate question about our TV which developed some issues yesterday, but also because I think this forum could be helpful when other such problems arise. Thanks so much!

                              Dear people from BADCAPS community..

The name is Richard Ramacieri, retired electronic technician from City of Montréal..As I was trying to fix a Samsung PN60E550DIFZA and after many lookups on internet forum, I came to BADCAPS as there were discussions on plasma tv such as the one that I was trying to fix..
After many test, I knew for shure that the problem was located at the (Y) board, mostly near the switching power supply for the -190 volts (Vsc), as it was only generating -40 volts..It is then I came to read on one of the poster that the fault would probably be the 3BR0665JZ ic and one way to make shure, was to freze that chip !!
I went to buy a can of freeze and tried it on the chip to see the set working !!
Bought the chip from China at a cost of 5 for about $4.00, replace the ic and the set is working perfectly since that time..
Wish to thanks all the people who take the time to write those forums. They are very very useful for the community...
Very best reguard's to all of you..
                              RR

Hi All, My name is Max and I'm probably older than most of you. My first Computer was made by Western Electric, when I worked there in the 60's & 70's. It was a 9185 and had 900 wire spring relays. It was ran by a peferated tape with holes in it.
I'm a retired Micro Wave Telcom Engineer. And having fun trying to repair big flat screen tv's with the smallest components, that most eyes cant see without a magnfing glass LOL. I love all your comments, and hope I can help someone out here too. Thanks Max

                                        Boingy saying hello here!
I was a brown goods service engineer from the late 70's till about 5 years ago. Self employed for nearly all of that time. Now doing white goods repair. The money is better and is stable, but I'd rather electronics any day!
                                        Happy Easter everyone
