Name is Keith. Just dropping in here to introduce myself. Got my AAS in EETE in 2000. Since then, I've done a bit of avionics overhaul, instrument design/repair/calibration, structural fatigue testing, flight test aircraft tracking and data telemetry, avionics troubleshoot/repair, and now electromagnetic compliance testing. On the side, I tend to get roped into a never-ending onslaught of "can you take a look at this for me?" and "this should be an easy fix" repairs of all types. Just found this site today while looking up some info on a Plasma TV repair, and thought I'd jump in.

New here, going to be making a thread about a laptop I am attempting to fix at a later date. It was dropped with a small bluetooth dongle in the usb 3.0 port, this forced the post to detach from the board. Once opened I found the inductor windings all over the place so I imagine something shorted out but Im going in blind without a schematic.
