Hello, I'm pretty new to all of this, I've never really attempted any electronic repair until recently when my Samsung went down. I am so impressed with all of the knowledge and experience so many of you all have. It is a pleasure to be apart of this awesome forum.
      Thank you

        Hello folks.

You can thank Hannspree for roasting caps on an open mainboard and sending me here.

I have a BSEE degree, multimeter, oscilloscope, soldering iron and I ordered some patience to crack this hothouse tomato of a monitor open to replace some caps. Should arrive by Tuesday.

Good luck with your repairs and thanks for the helpful advice and info folks!

                      Hello all, Just joined today,
I am a bound to a bench all day repairing industrial electronics, all kinds of cr@p.
My first system was a Sinclair ZX81 but I learned programming on a PDP11 and an ICL mainframe,
the first microprocessor development kit that I used for work (Lucas Ignition Department)
was for Motorola 6800 D2 kit with Hex keypad, moved on to Intel 8048 etc.
The first pre-release 8048 processor that I worked on cost equivalent to two months of my pay!
Worked on all kinds of stuff, moved overseas and worked as a mainframe repair guy, eventually specialising in communications.
Took a wrong career turn somewhere and now mostly swapping new caps for old (maybe 1/3 of all industrial electronic faults that I see)

Hey this is retired Engineer and DIYer. Just got replacement A board for my Panasonic 50" plasma, and now I have a picture! Only problem is the picture doesn't fill the screen. Any suggestions about what's going on. The TV is TH-50PX75U and the board is TNPH60921A. Note, the owner manual for this TV is also for a TH-42PX75U and I've seen where the same board is used for both 43" and 50". I'm wondering if there's a jumper or switch on the A board I'm supposed to change; I got my board from eBay seller and maybe it came from 42" tv?

Hey I'm a champion DIYer. I've done plumbing, carpentry, furniture building, ceramic tile, electrical house wiring, masonry, landscaping, almost everything. But this is first time inside a TV. This sight has been a big help and given me just enough encouragement/confidence to take my storm-blown 50" plasma from not working at all to working albeit one glitch; picture doesn't fill screen. So planning to see if anyone here can help. Great site.
