I’m not sure if this forum is still active (Posts seem old) but if it is I hope someone can help me. I’ll donate $5 with fingers crossed for a reply.

Hello everyone, my name is Patrick. I’m based in San Antonio and I’m always working on something hands-on, technical, or creative. I tend to dive deep into whatever project I take on. Over the years that has pulled me into electronics, IP cameras, NVR firmware, UART and hardware debugging, home automation, and smart-tech builds. I enjoy figuring out how things work, improving them, and helping others troubleshoot along the way.

Away from the bench, I’m also into home theater design and audio. I like comparing gear, dialing in speaker setups, and getting the most out of receivers, speakers, and room layouts. At home I’m usually juggling a mix of DIY projects: building smart door systems, tuning a home media setup, exploring Raspberry Pi ideas, or refining my lawn and landscaping approach in the Texas heat.

Professionally I manage multiple automotive service locations, which keeps me focused on leadership, operations, and performance. Outside of work, I flip and resell gear as a side hobby. I love the hunt for good finds and the challenge of restoring or optimizing items to give them new life.

When I’m not buried in a project, I’m usually fishing along the Texas coast, experimenting with no-frills photography, or working on something for fun just to see what I can learn from it.

I’m glad to be here and looking forward to connecting, sharing knowledge, and learning from everyone. If you’re into tech, electronics, audio, DIY builds, or anything hands-on, I’m always down to talk shop.

                Salutations Everyone!

Wow Petabyte!!! That's going back a bit - Like me.. You're Data-Dating yourself HAH!. I've been in love with, and working on and with PCs ever since I first laid hands to one back in 1986. My's degreed in Engineering as well and been steadily building and repairing these monsters since 2004. (Remember the old NEC APC Advanced Personal Compute withthe 8" disk drives?? I found one in the trash one say along with a full suite of software... cleaned out the cobwebs, tinkered with a few jumpers, and got it back working perfectly.. It's just a talent. heh OFC.) My very first computer was one of those antique of all antiques ~The Infamous Atari 1400 with the membrane keys back in the day *Eryka Badu Quote Intended.* heh.. My first real unit was one of the old Dell Optiplex 486 Calculators (Opps.. Umm I mean computers ~I think) with 512MB of ram and an old 16MB Radeon card in it and a 19" Monster of a CRT monitor on top. I can't remember how big (NOT) was t he HDD, but we really all thought we were "poopin' in high cotton" back then.. didn't we?? HEHEHEHHE. I used this PC over dial-puke splinternet to try to sign on to Second Life back in its beta days.. OMG!!! It took 26 attempts and 47 minutes to log on to find only ONE!!! Island.. HAHAHA!! (*was sooooo udderly desperate back then*) "Hang it all!" ~I said! "I'll come back when I have a 'REAL PC' and faster internet" (preferably, and at the time --that was cable) My first high speed line was a blazing fast 20 Megger *Chuckles heartily* (1GB line now TG ~Looooooving-IT) We really have come such a long way in 0nly a piffling few years of time.. Now I'm on a blazing fast monster Ryzen 7700X "Super-Puter* built for high end gaming, 3D Modeling and video work with one of the latest of the Victus line in a LT on the side.. I specialize these days in custom HW and OS builds, customer adaptability, system performance, security, maintenance, repair and longevity of these wonderful machines, and am finally bridging once again into doing a bit of modding of mine own parts, especially with things being so dear in video cards at present. (WE NEED GRAPHENE TRANSISTORS!) Just imagine the possibilities!!! 100Terahertz+ computing, light-based components, virtually no electricity to run them, and almost no heat!! OMG!! *Drools* I can see the day already when "Restart" vanishes from the start menu to be replaced at first with "Refresh" in its place, and then being dispensed with entirely!!! Instant on systems... Crystal based HDDs... Ohhhh Imagine the possibilities!! Q.ANT has already developed the Light-Based Chip after all... Nvidia lost that gambit MUWHAHAHAHAH!! ((As much as I love my RTX card.. POO TO THEM WITH KNOBS ON! We put them there.. where they are now, AMD as well, and now they want to leave us in the dirt?? Ohhh Ummmm ooOOOoOOo We shall see how that one comes out of the spin-dryer..)) One chip at a time *Pun Intended* we inch closer past the wall of Silicon.. Another topic of interest.. Graphene batteries!! Ye Olde Ouroboros Batteries QED!!!

*Putters off to tinker some more*
I'm so glad I found this place before I start to mod my current GPU..

                Namaste Everybody,
... and do call me Sun.
