Hello everyone! I am a recent EE grad. At work recently I managed to make an unintentional ground loop, between my PCB, and thinkpad laptop. So I am here to work on tracking down the schematic and improve my chances at repair.

Hi to everyone, im new here i know this website from YouTubers that are in this type of job EC programming and bios.

          A short story of myself:
I was interested on how things do work from a young age , "the logic behind them" . I remember all statted with Metin2 private server files by Rain or Root (dont remember exactly) , I was 13-14 yo back then and i was struggling to make it work to login in game successfully on this Server Files, but never gave up till one day i managed ot took me 3 days, and from there slowly i went deeper in the client, server, database and a little for the web part for registration, bck then was with Hamachi connection till the port forwarding came to my knowledge.
I started to implement 3 d models of weapons from other games using extractors from other communities like this one and posting them(finished 3d models comverted them to be compatible with the game, texture location , alpha channel for brightness all balanced)for free on a forum to share it. I was happy to see after some years some big Pservers, using the models that i shared.
Well and so many to talk about but all ended when i was 22 yo because of real job and different focuses on life, but still I remember my many hours and struggles to understand some aspects in the game development area .
Now im a truck driver, i don't really love this job i do it because i need to earn my existence. I would love yo open my repair shop one day , slowly getting what i need (tools ).
And yes im 30 yo , life goes fast , if i work most of my life o want to do something that i really enjoy, even the hardware deserves a second chance(third, fourth...)let's fix them.
My English is not very good and i hope.to be useful in the future after i will get some experience, and i will try to extract every laptop that i pit hands on to save the firmware amd bios..
Thank you and ahave a lovely journey in your life.

            Hello from Tom!

            Hi everyone,

I'm Tom/toLog and I'm excited to join the Badcaps community!

            A bit about my background:
            • Self-taught electronics enthusiast with no formal training but about 6 years of hobbyist experience
            • Background in IT support, but electronics repair is purely a passion project
            • Started fixing things out of stubbornness - couldn't stand throwing away "broken" devices

            My main interests include:
            • Consumer electronics repair (laptops, monitors, TVs, audio equipment)
            • Learning proper capacitor identification and replacement techniques
            • Power supply troubleshooting and repair
            • Currently working on reviving a dead Dell laptop motherboard

            What brought me here:
            • Desperately need a board view file for this laptop repair I'm tackling
            • Found Badcaps through countless Google searches and forum recommendations
            • Honestly might be a quick download-and-disappear situation, but the community knowledge here looks incredible

            My workshop/tools:
            • Hakko clone soldering station from AliExpress (does the job!)
            • Generic hot air station (also from the land of cheap Chinese tools)
            • Decent multimeter, basic oscilloscope, and a microscope that probably cost 1/10th what a real one does
            • Full set of precision screwdrivers, tweezers, and flux - all budget versions but they work
            • More enthusiasm than expertise, but learning every day through YouTube University and trial-by-fire

I'm looking forward to learning from all the experienced members here and hopefully contributing back to the community as I gain more knowledge. The wealth of information already available on this forum is incredible!

Thanks for having me, and I hope to be a helpful member of the community.

            Best regards, Tom.

                      Helloha

I signed up here because im buying a bios locked laptop tomorrow and knowing that its going to be a pain in the backside to try and figure out I turned to this forum, Its perfect other than bios issue, Thinkpad E15 Gen 3, first Thinkpad too so hoping to frankenstein it to the max, and I have had the itch since building my first pc and watch so I surely cant wait to brick an expensive piece of hardware. the joys

Hopefully I still have a laptop and a new side hustle to unlock BIOS' and get more business locked laptops.

my name is Martin and I'm from Germany. I try to repair my electronic devices by myself as far as I can.
I've now reached a point where I need some support, and I hope someone here in the forum can help me.
I wish everyone lots of success with their projects!

Hello everyone, I’m Fred from Paris France, I like to fix items such as little amplifier and all that is interesting to learn and find out the solution but I’m a musician first, I’m looking for the schematic of the IPhone 6s to see the connection of the backlight led to save a Boss Dr 880 from going in the darkness on the screen as the led is dead and unfortunately they sale the all screen in state of just the led and it’s too expensive.
                                  Best.
                                  Fred
