Hi everyone! I found this site while researching how to fix a broken Thunderbolt 3 port on an otherwise working X1 Carbon Gen 7 laptop. I bought it for a steal (the seller said it had a bad motherboard; now I see why). I've been researching how to fix this and going deeper and deeper down the BIOS flashing rabbit hole.
I plan on doing a fair amount of BIOS flashing as I might also flash Libreboot on a T480 I bought at around the same time. In short, I'm very interested in learning more about external BIOS flashing.
I also develop my own custom electronics and am certain I'll be using this site as a resource. Thanks for this great forum and resource!

Hello everyone,
I'm just an ordinary person who recently became curious about electronics and repairs. I'm a complete beginner with no technical background, but I've started to develop an interest in learning how things work and how to fix them.
I came across this forum while searching for helpful information, and I was amazed by how much knowledge is shared here. I'm hoping to learn a lot from all the experienced members and maybe one day be able to contribute something myself.
Thank you for creating such a valuable community. I would greatly appreciate any help or guidance you can offer as I begin this journey.
Best regards,

Hey my name is Vincent, I'm a musician, amateur mycologist and a woodsmen in general. I've been interested in electronics since I was a child, the first thing I remember fixing was a CRT TV, it was a shocking experience but I did manage to fix it. Since then I've been getting better at electronic repairs, mainly flat screens found on the curb and then reselling them. I've had mostly hand me down PC's and laptops which taught me quite a bit hence the name Devastated Technologies. This journey has formed my philosophy regarding the wasteful consumerism that's plagues first world countries well exploiting poor people in foreign countries. This Walmart state of mind angers me and I people have gotten so used to convenient abundance that they have no appreciation for all the work and resources that go into the products they're so quick to throw away. I still have a lot to learn, I'm mainly focusing on fault finding. I've ended up finding this forum while trying to find detailed schematics for my Asus K55A(VM) which has had an audio issue(the headphone jack contacts were bent). This is the first forum I've joined so bear with me if you could, thanks in advance.Comment

Hi everyone,
I joined this forum because of an ongoing issue with Lenovo ThinkBook laptops that my company purchased in bulk for staff. These machines have been giving me so much trouble that I had to scour the internet for solutions, and that search led me here.
I’m really hoping to learn from the hardware experts in this community and get reliable guidance to help me maintain the growing number of ThinkBooks landing on my desk for repair. Looking forward to sharing and learning with you all.Comment
