    Hi everyone, I'm MiM👋

I recently joined this forum after coming across a few really helpful threads while searching for answers about a dead laptop board. I’ve been fixing electronics for a while now — mostly out of necessity at first, but now it's definitely a passion (or maybe an obsession 😅).

A little about me… I’ve always been curious about how things work, especially when they don’t. I started small — broken toys, burnt power adapters, and eventually worked my way up to phones, monitors, and motherboards. These days, I'm deep into board-level repair: tracing faults, replacing tiny SMD components, and trying to understand the logic of circuits that refuse to cooperate.

I’m not an electrical engineer by degree, but I’m learning constantly — through hands-on work, classes, YouTube, forums like this, and of course, trial and error (lots of error...).

I joined this place to share what I’ve learned and learn what I haven’t. I’m hoping to contribute where I can, especially with schematic tracing, power rail issues, and component ID. But I’m also here to get better — particularly at advanced diagnostics, PMIC repair, BIOS stuff, and maybe reverse engineering a bit.

I prefer working quietly in the background, but now and then I’ll pop up with a fix, a question, or a tool recommendation.

Anyway, just happy to be here — this place already feels like the right kind of rabbit hole.
Looking forward to learning with all of you!

    Cheers,
    MiM FiX

        Good day.
The first time I encountered personal computers was in 1987 (IBM 286, 386) …
Actually, I am a database administrator (system administrator), but due to recent events in the country, I am forced to do minor repairs of laptops (I am a beginner). I hope to learn a lot from you, I hope that you are all highly qualified specialists, and most importantly, kind and responsive people - ready to help a beginner….

Joining the crew. My name is Justin. I’ve been into computers and technology for as long as I can remember. When I was 11, I built my first computer—a 500MHz AMD K6-2—and that experience kicked off a lifelong fascination with how things work under the hood.

By the time I was 14, I was deep into LAN gaming, spending weekends playing classics like Quake II and Unreal Tournament with friends. Those early days of building PCs, tweaking settings for better performance, and getting into online communities really shaped the way I think about technology and problem-solving today.

Hello Here, I'm Cristian and I'm an Electronic Engineer since ... 25 years. However I went to the darkside quite after the University and worked as Software Engineer instead. That's life. I kept an amateur interest in electronics and like to repair my things by myself. Sometimes modify them and so on.

                  Hello all!
This is my first post just about anywhere. I normally don’t post or join places like this While I do have a facebook page, I haven’t been on that for many a year.
I have lived in northern Virginia for almost twenty years but still consider myself a Jersey girl.
Anyway I have recently started to reawaken my interest in electronics and want to start doing some repairs. I’ve gotten a couple of iPads and a MacBook to start practicing on, but during my search for information, my personal MacBook Air first went into folder/question mark and then totally died. I want to repair that first now but am having trouble finding the information I need.
in looking for board views of the Air, I have been having trouble finding the right one and came across this sight in that search.
I hope being here will help ease my journey to success in first fixing my Air and then continuing to fix others.
Thanks to all in advance for the help!
                  Jenn12797

                      Hi everyone,

I've always had a strong interest in electronics, especially in repairing and reviving older hardware. I recently came across Badcaps while searching for solutions to a monitor issue, and I was really impressed by the depth of knowledge and helpfulness in the community.

I'm hoping to learn more about capacitor-related problems, power supply repairs, and maybe contribute a bit myself as I gain more experience. I mostly tinker with PCs, displays, and consumer electronics in my free time.

Looking forward to being a part of the community!

                      Best regards,

so what's your story ? come on.. give it up..
Well, I'l follow the leader lol. I'm a student of the master. I had some computer experience back in '86. It was all DOS. Not to long ago, I thought it was something just to do minor things like reformat and replacing drives. I'm learning hardware mainly. Though I am dabbling in site building.
Personal about me, I'm a nurse. Doing some serious research on becoming a PRN/midwife. Yes some would say it's foolish to go back to school now, but with "someones" support I will be in the top of my class. I hope to minor in some type of technology. I love to read, ride mtn bikes and want to learn to fly.
My age, thirty-something, this monday I might add.
