Hey everyone,
Just wanted to say a quick hello and introduce myself. I recently stumbled across this forum while trying to troubleshoot some aging hardware, and I'm really glad I did — seems like a great community with a ton of knowledge.
I've been tinkering with electronics on and off for a few years. Nothing too serious, mostly hobby projects and fixing things that probably should've been recycled, but I've always enjoyed figuring out what went wrong and trying to bring stuff back to life. Lately I've been getting more curious about bad caps and board-level repairs, so I figured it was time to join up and learn from people who actually know what they're doing.

Hi, I'm Alfonso.
Like many here, I like to fix everything I come across. I'm obsessed with getting old but fast PCs up and running. I take apart almost anything I don't know to learn, and I've learned a lot. I'm a mechanical engineer. I also watch a lot of videos about motherboards and video cards.

Hello all,
ill have to keep this short else this will all become waffle.
What can I say im a middle aged man looking for a new career in microelectronics and this group was recommended, and upon quick glance seems like it has right bunch on it.
Started soldering couple of months ago, building myself a nice little inventory of equipment, getting practice in.
So im a complete noob
Have done 2 PS5 TMR stick upgrades which im made up with
Im a pure knowledge seeker and knowledge giver(if I have it)
wish I had somethng more profound to say but thats about it.
Hope everyone is well.
Live long and prosper

Hey all!
I am IRCEnthusiast! I recently (kind of) moved from Chicago to rural Wisconsin, USA to start a new life for my family and to open a new avenue for the company I work for. The company does electronic waste and recycling, data destruction, and resale. The new facility they opened in Wisconsin is also where I am piloting the new repair division, and as it stands I am the lead repair technician as well as the only repair technician. It's an exciting time!
I know my way around electronics thanks to my grandfather who worked for Lucent Technologies/Bell Labs when I was a child and would often bring telecomms and computers home for me to open up and see how they worked. I built my first computer from parts of broken machines when I was 9 and it all went downhill from there!
While I'm used to poking around boards and figuring out what goes where, my newly established position of navigating a scrapping company into the world of repair has dumped a very large range of machines and devices on my lap from new cell phones and tablets to Amiga 2000s to imac G3s to audio mixing boards to entire server racks fresh out of data centers. The threads shared here have been so immeasurably helpful for me not to have to start from scratch on every weird little board that comes across my desk.
Anyway, nice to be here. I hope to be able to help others out as much as you've all helped me!
