    Hello. I am new here.

I enjoy messing around with computers, and seeing what I can make them do.

I also enjoy working on my car in my spare time, because it never works.

Ive used many computers and many systems, but the thing I really do not like is when the older ones get bad drives, and you have to find a strange adapter to a CF Card to get it working because SATA-3 doesn't go to it. Of course, it was 5 dollars at a thrift store, but man is it ever annoying trying to find adapters for those old PATA drives, but it also has the advantage of letting me write stuff right to it's drive using another computer with a CF reader instead of playing leap frog with hard drives or burning CDs. So many things with the older ones

Have been working as a computer tech for almost 25 years (mostly Windows and Linux workstations, Linux servers, small networks and so on). Been fixing my own computers for much longer.

Now the first time did something as stupid as setting a BIOS password to my Latitude 5400 without marking it up on paper or saving it in the password manager. Thought that the password is so easy that I don't need to.
And quite obviously, managed to forget it. Tried all passwords and combinations I thought it could have been, but no luck. This happened a few years ago.
Visited badcaps back then as a guest/lurker, but there was no working 8FC8 patcher available at the time (the one that existed got removed for being bugged).

The BIOS is still locked, but now I need to unlock it to swap the NVMe SSD drive in it for a larger one, thought to give it a try using the now available patcher.

                          Hello all.

I work in the world of IT, although not on hardware. Laptop fixing is an (obsessive!) hobby I started some time ago. I consider I've learnt a lot during this time, and there is still a lot to learn. In that sense, these forums and all the material uploaded has been of great help. I hope I can keep learning and also collaborate where I can.

I hope to retire early soon and now I'm going to find time to repair all kinds of gadgets. At the moment I'm already fixing several TVs, refrigerators in their electronic part and trying to repair an LG washing machine electronic card that is driving me crazy... 57 years old and like a child learning everything I can to repair better and better.

I'm new to this community and found my way here after a Google search for "corrupted BIOS," which is an issue I'm currently facing and could really use some help with.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can offer!
