Complete newbie here trying to get into giving old laptops new life for family, friends and donation. Will be digging into locked laptop bioses (thanks, ex-enterprise owners!) and more in due time. By day I'm a Sys Admin in the Linux and Windows spheres, and outside of that I'm a petrolhead, music & tech junkie among other things (with a weird taste in music specifically!). Looking forward to getting to know people and into the hobby.

Dear Badcaps Forum and hello everyone,
my name is Frank, and I'm a passionate computer enthusiast from Germany. I'm currently pursuing my Master's degree in Informatics, and alongside my academic journey, I love diving deep into both software development and the underlying hardware that makes it all possible.
While my main background is in software engineering, I've always been fascinated by the synergy between software and hardware. In my free time, I enjoy tinkering with old FRITZ!Box routers, problematic notebooks (old or new), and various other electronic devices—whether it's troubleshooting, repairing, or repurposing them for fun or practical use.
Another big part of my tech passion lies in my homelab, where I experiment with servers, network switches, and explore the world of virtualization with Proxmox, as well as container technologies like Docker. It's my little playground where learning never stops.
I'm always curious to learn more, exchange knowledge, and connect with like-minded tech folks. Looking forward to great discussions and cool projects with you all!
