Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

    Hello,

I am from Latvia. Have had experience doing very simple fixing up and maintenance (rewire headphones, replace mouse switches, re-pasting and cleaning out electronics). Did a semi-dumb thing and had to bring my laptop to specialist and thought to educate myself while my computer is in the shop.

Greetings, folks. I am the owner of a Sony KDL46Z4100 television that has gone bad this week. Colorful horizontal lines and some at an angle and some black and white lines as well. Hoping to pick up some tips to see if this can be fixed. Or if it is time to throw out the 15 year old TV

                                New user reporting in.

I'm Peter from The Netherlands and though new to this forum, I'm hardly new to electronics. It all started when I was seven and my father taught me how to solder at the kitchen table (stinking up the entire house...). At eight I got my first own soldering iron as a gift for passing the swimming test. Ever since, a soldering iron has been within reach.

Have been mostly building measurement equipment, repairing same equipment, involved in RF (first on 3m, later as a HAM with Full-licence. Used to be only active on VHF and above with homebuilt gear. Not presently licenced but intend to renew it, this time I'll be only active on UHF and above.

My (totally non-technical) university study was mostly paid by repairing TV's and VCRs, back in the '90s. Still recall many of the Philips chassis I worked on.... K2, K12, KT-3M and K7 are some that come to mind.

Looking forward to learning (and possibly even teaching?) a lot on this forum.

I am new here. My beloved 10 years old computer that I built from scratch is now dead. Hopefully I can get some info on how to bring it back to like.

                                        Hi all,

greetings from Hannover, Germany. This seems like a nice community. I am quite new to fixing electronics, so do not expect any expert advice from me ;-) However, with the help of some shaky youtube videos I just fixed the power supply of my old Laserdisc player (yay!), and now I am about to fix my old Weltron 2007 that catched dust in my basement for ages. Wish me luck! :-)
