Re: Philips 50PUS6262/12 (chassis TMP17.7E LA) no picture
Update: I tried unmasking various clock-lines (CL1 to CL8) in an attempt to isolate the error but the only effect was a worsening image, with sometimes white/grey vertical columns or complete loss of picture.
So in the end I decided to stick with simply masking CL1 to 8 and call it a day. The only noticeable effect is a very very slight flickering/change in image intensity every 1.5s or so. Very hard to notice so not a problem for me.
Hopefully this thread will prove useful to others with similar...

Re: Philips 50PUS6262/12 (chassis TMP17.7E LA) no picture
Good news: by masking the 8 clock lines in the flatcable to the defective board, picture was restored.
I was curious and couldn't wait till tomorrow with the masking-tape trick. Tomorrow I will have to narrow the problem down to the particular bad clock-line, but even as it is now, with 8 masked clock-lines, I could live perfectly fine with the TV.
I expect image quality would improve by restoring the 7 non-offending clock lines, which I will do tomorrow, but as said, image quality is perfectly...

Diah, not to doubt your expertise, but is it wise to start messing with the firmware? I'd be worried about causing more problems. I never update firmware for my equipment for fear of bricking. 'If it ain't broken, don't fix it'.
But you think that a downgrade might possibly solve the problem? I'd love to learn about the reasons behind this possible solution....Last edited by HP32Sii; 02-26-2023, 01:26 PM.

Re: Philips 50PUS6262/12 (chassis TMP17.7E LA) no picture
That video is very interesting, thanks for the link! Didn't realize that there were work-arounds even when the screen itself is bad. Obviously, I've been out of the loop for quite a while.
Iotas, I may have expressed myself badly. My DMM has a buzzer function that beeps when R < 30 ohm. None of the capacitors 'beeped', so all were greater than 30 ohm. So no hard shorts. But they may still have too low resistance to work properly.
So tomorrow I'll test with the resistance-function (2k-range)....

Re: Philips 50PUS6262/12 (chassis TMP17.7E LA) no picture
I have checked the ceramic capacitors on that long & narrow PCB at the bottom of the TV. None had obvious shorts (<30 ohm). Tomorrow I'll test to see if they're perhaps low-resistance (but above 30 ohm).
I have also tried swapping the two flatcables (that you numbered 1 and 2) to verify that the problem wasn't in the cables themselves. But the set responds identically so the cables are obviously not the problem.
I fear that if I can't trace the problem to the ceramic capacitors (or resistors...

Re: Philips 50PUS6262/12 (chassis TMP17.7E LA) no picture
Thanks for the speedy reply!
After disconnecting cable 1 of the T-con board, a picture appeared on the left part of the screen; initially half the Philips-logo, followed later by a half-displayed message at the bottom stating 'Geen zenders [missing text]' (i.e. no stations found) and 'satellietzenders [missing text]'. In the right-half of the screen there does appear a grey vertical column though. See images below.
Re-connecting cable 1 and disconnecting cable 2, no image appeared, i.e. completely...

Philips 50PUS6262/12 (chassis TMP17.7E LA) no picture
This is my first post on this forum, and my first attempted repair of a modern flat-screen LCD-TV (though I have repaired a few LCD-monitors, all with Elco-problems (high ESR). I have repaired my fair share of TV-sets and VCRs in the past ('90s) and was fairly familiar with the different Philips chassis (KT-3M, K12, K2, K3, K7 are some that come to mind). So I have a fair bit of experience on old sets. Obviously, modern TV sets are quite a different cup of tea.... no HOT or flyback-transformer inside, for starters....
The set came into my possession by accident,...

New user reporting in.
I'm Peter from The Netherlands and though new to this forum, I'm hardly new to electronics. It all started when I was seven and my father taught me how to solder at the kitchen table (stinking up the entire house...). At eight I got my first own soldering iron as a gift for passing the swimming test. Ever since, a soldering iron has been within reach.
Have been mostly building measurement equipment, repairing same equipment, involved in RF (first on 3m, later as a HAM with...
