Samsung un40h5003 turns on when plugging it in

I have a weird one. My in laws gave me a un40h5003 Samsung LCD TV that turns itself on when you plug it in and neither the power button on the TV nor the remote do anything, but other buttons do.

Simple issue I figured, so I opened up the back, and unplugged the power button on the TV from the cable. Retested and it still turns itself on automatically. I pulled the batteries out of the remote and even had the remote in another room and same thing.

Any ideas why this would be happening? No obvious capacitor issues, no bulging, no issues on either power or main board just from looking at things.

Based on other threads about similar issues, it would appear the eeprom is corrupted. I ordered a new main board for this unit, only $20.00 after tax and shipping, and will see if that fixes the issue.

did you try a factory reset

yeah, i did.. no difference. Also couldn't find a bios to flash to it.

what mainboard number and lcd number is used in this set
