Based on other threads about similar issues, it would appear the eeprom is corrupted. I ordered a new main board for this unit, only $20.00 after tax and shipping, and will see if that fixes the issue.

  • Samsung un40h5003 turns on when plugging it in

I have a weird one. My in laws gave me a un40h5003 Samsung LCD TV that turns itself on when you plug it in and neither the power button on the TV nor the remote do anything, but other buttons do.

Simple issue I figured, so I opened up the back, and unplugged the power button on the TV from the cable. Retested and it still turns itself on automatically. I pulled the batteries out of the remote and even had the remote in another room and same thing.

Any ideas why this would be happening? No obvious capacitor issues, no bulging, no issues on either power or main board...

  • Re: Vizio E320-A1 LCD; no video and locks up after turning on

I'm having the same problem. Replaced the U19? eeprom and now the white light comes on but nothing else, no backlight, and its locked up. I bought a replacement board on ebay and it has the same issue. I'm going to purchase a complete eeprom set from shopjimmy in a last ditch effort to get this working before I throw in the towel and tell my boss its unrepairable.

  • Re: Samsung LE32R88BD/ BN44-00155A

Ah, I have checked the surface mount resistors in series and everything else I can check like diodes, etc without a scope, but I have no way of checking the IC. I might just buy a replacement kit for this PS and replace all of the ICs that come with it and see if that solves the problem. My PS is a BN44-00445A and there is a kit online that comes with 3 ICs I could replace....

What causes PFC to not work? I'm working on a similar board, not for this model samsung, but for another, and only get 160 volts at the 3 main PFC caps instead of 400 volts. I replaced two fets that were bad which stopped my fuse from blowing, but when jumping pson with a 470 ohm resister, I only see 160 v at the pfc caps. I've posted for the past couple weeks in my other thread, but it doesn't have the traffic this one does so I'm hoping someone can answer as to what else I can look at.

  • Re: Samsung Plasma- Shutdown Failure- PN64D550C1FXZA

Replaced the QS804 and QS802 Fets. Also replaced the fuse and QP802 and QP804 after QS804 tested bad. Now the power supply turns on but clicks like a relay is cycling.

Testing with my dmm, on CN801 I get 4.28 volts on pin1, 5.29 volts on pin2. With pins 1 and 3 jumpered on with a 470 ohm resistor, when I check the 3 large PFC caps, I'm only getting 160 volts which is too low. Should be around 386 VDC, not 160. What else should I be checking?

  • Re: Samsung Plasma- Shutdown Failure- PN64D550C1FXZA

Seems I have a short in my power supply. The main fuse was blown so I went to radio shack and bought another 10 amp fuse. They didn't have the correct length, so I made it work. Plugged it in and boom, sparks flew and I circled the small burned dot on the board it made. Sparks flew from the square transformer? right to the top right of the dot on the board.

Looks like qp802, qp804, and dp802 are probaby suspect (mosfets) Unfortunately, I will have to place an order with digikey or mouser to get some...

  • Re: Samsung Plasma- Shutdown Failure- PN64D550C1FXZA

I just picked up one of these off a craigslist post today and will open it up tonight or tomorrow to assess damage. Owner said he was watching TV and it popped and all power went out. He said it clicks which sounds like the power board. Hoping its simple like bad solder joints. There's not much info out on the web about problems with these devices other than this thread. I'm a total noob, but have repaired a couple 42 inch samsung plasmas and a couple panasonic plasmas in the past so I'm hoping for success with this unit. It's...

  • Schematic needed - Hitachi l32bd304

I bought this 32 inch lcd with blu ray off the local craigslist. User said he was watching tv, he heard a pop or click, and then no power. I bought it, took it apart, and couldn't find anything wrong or burnt. I can't find a schematic for the power board online either. On a whim, I bought another power board off ebay (good refurb according to the seller), but like the power board in it, it does not do anything. I get no blinking lights, no sign of power, no power to the built in blu ray player, nothing. I've tried disconnecting the Tcon board and it makes no difference. I just get nothing at all....

  • Re: Panasonic tc-p50c2 1 blink

I can't find a reasonably priced A board to save my life. I have the dreaded 1 blink and from what I've read here and online, the A board is the culprit.

  • Re: Westinghouse LD-4655VX - My First LED

Fixed one of these last night. Had to relocate the left cable a couple times but it moves quite a bit under the panels so it wasn't that bad. I used diagonal pliers (dikes) to snip the cable clean and then attempted to use a dremel with the sanding bit on it, but kept cutting through the traces. I then put a wire brush end on the dremel and, at lowest speed, was able to carefully burnish off enough of the plastic to expose just the traces in the wire. I then reattached the blue header (that gives it the friction to hold into the fitting...
