RDXV60KB , powers down immediately after taken out of standby , schematic / advice

    Hi all

My usual M.O with this issue is to replace all of the rectifier diodes on PSU secondary side , including the 2 troublesome SK39 SMD types .

    Hasn't provided a cure this time , which i'm surprised about .

Also tested ESR of all the electrolytic caps

    Any help much appreciated .

Note , customer in his infinite wisdom brought the unit into the workshop half stripped down , therefore there is a possibility he has added to problem .

So short on mainboard? Not much info to go on here.
I assume no responsibility for any stupid suggestions I might post.

Hi Dskall , will update with additional info once i have a chance to spend some more time with it . Not quite sure if it's a main board issue , but have had the IN type diodes on main breaking down under load in the past ,so that is a possibility .

Thanks once again Lotas ,very helpful.

Discovered some recent looking track work on main .

Clean off flux & checked the track repair , which seems good .Not sure if this is related to current issue .

Stripped VCR mode switch , cleaned tracks & re - tension ed spring contacts .

Also replaced all nine of the 1N4005 diodes on main using 4007 types .

Above mentioned known for causing power issues , but not in this case .

Have a feeling issue is on the PSU

Next step will be to connect it in stand alone , trigger all the supplies , then load each one , as i suspect component breaking down under load .

Anyone know how these machines react with HDD disconnected ?

Managed to get hold of a working digital board , from a non HDD version of this machine to test . It looks identical apart from no connectors for hard drive.

Unit still shuts down immediately .

                  Got it . Hard to spot but there's a burn mark on Q1106 ( STD1862 ) PSU module .

Slightly confusing as wiring doesn't match up with schematics .

I assume PSU must have been revised after schematics drawn up .

                  PSU TYPE BE3TK3F01 02 3-A VERSION - 08

i'm sure there will be more components faulty . Will update.

Couldn't find any other issues .

Powered unit via variac & slowly increase AC supply , just in case , but seems ok .

Now to test it all out .
