Samsung BN44-006056A Blowing Mains plug fuse.

Hi,
ive picked up a Samsung UE32F5500AK TV with a BN44-006056A power pcb.

It was reported as `blowing the fuse` - the 3A one in the plug.

on quick inspection of the power pcb, a ceramic capacitor CM802 has blown apart.. photo attached.

Ive found a PDF of the circuit schematic and can identify the neighbouring components (RM801, RM802) but cannot find CM802 on the schematic.

Can anyone identify what CM802 is ?

check these parts too as this is whats in the psu repair kit also check the bridge rectifier

This is usually a 47pF 1KV capacitor, it probably took out the main switching MOSFET behind the heatsink, RM801/2, the SMD MOSFET controller on the back of the PCB and some of its surrounding resistors.

If the fuse has been continuously replaced regarding nothing about the real problem, the bridge rectifier may be shorted, like vince suggested.

CM801 - 100pF 1kV.

It is good practice to replace this 1kv cap with a 2kv cap
There will be more components bad like the mosfet etc.

Thanks all, and apologies for obviously misquoting CM802... which you correctly stated was CM801.

I swapped the blown cap to a 100pf 2kv replacement - and it works. happy days.

- incidentally - i did go round checking all the other components and couldnt find
anything obvious so thought i might as well give this blown cap replacement a go... or just opt for a replacement board.
