Toshiba 32d1333db - no standby light. Vestel 17PS11

    Hi All

I wonder if anyone could be kind enough to see if this Toshiba 32d1333db is repairable. I got it from a neighbour who was about to bin it - they replaced it with another unit , so if I can fix it up I can give it away to someone that wants it.

The symptom is that power is applied and nothing happens (no power LED lights up).

I have the back off and attach photos of teh front and back of the power supply - it is a Vestel 17IPS11 PSU and an unidentified main board. I also found a schematic which is plausibly the same board and revision too.

I am not that good with electronics theory (more of a PC and microcontrollers person) but I can moderately competently use a multimeter, know how to minimise the risk of killing myself with avoiding the hot side of the power supply, and have a crude USB oscilloscope and soldering skills if needed.

There are some voltages present on the PSU board - but what I don't know is what would be considered normal , and how to diagnose back , so if anyone has time to hold my hand that would be much appreciated.

So my first voltage reading - measures between the TV metal frame (which I am assuming, maybe wrongly that is used as gnd on the low voltage side) and D107 is 27.5V, which seems high to my mind.

If someone is able to identify where I should be measuring I can provide answers, or I can pop the power board out and measure components. Using diode test mode, I get what I would consider normal readings (a voltage drop one way and infinite resistance the other) on all diodes apart from D134 and D134 - but I am measuring in situ and that may be an artefact of the circuit that causes this.

    Any hand holding is appreciated!

    -Steve

Hi can you fit the psu back into the tv and reconnect all wires. with your multi meter set on dc volts black probe on tv metal chassis then test the black connector in the pic ive added and let us know what voltage you have on each pin (test these carefully dont let probe slip and short pins out) Edit! it maybe easier to remove the wiring harnes (if there is a harness as some boards interlock) from the mainboard and use the red probe on each pin in that plug as less chance of shorting pins out then.

Re: Toshiba 32d1333db - no standby light. Vestel 17PS11

Will do, thanks. The main board interlocks with the PSU - can this PSU be tested outside of the TV in isolation or does it have to be connected to the main board for the voltages to make sense?

I will try and fashion a safer probe for my meter as my current one is very likely to short the pins - I can do the outer 10 without too much difficulty but will struggle with the inner 10

Can you see from the picture where pin 1 is - I see a black dot on the circuit board - is that pin 1 so runs odds 1-19 top to bottom in the overhead picture , then evens 2-20 on the inside row that is hard for me to get at?

      Thanks

Reading a few posts these tvs suffer bad mainboards that can cause tv acting dead and no standby light etc.

LED TV Samsung The Frame 55 inch QE55LS03RAU Standby Light only
          by ChristianBr01
          Hello everyone,
I got a Samsung The Frame 55 inch TV for free from uncle cause it is not turning on anymore. I am in the second year of training as an electrician so I have knowledge already but I am far away from to be a pro.
The TV has Standby but ist not turning on. A Friend of mine owns a 50 inch Frame TV so I checked the One Connect Box and the One Connect Cable there. Both are good and working normally. I have opened the TV case and measured some voltages on the Board.
What I already found is that the 12.8V are not an the connector to the main board connector to the power...

          Hello!
Bought a used TV last weekend and everything was fine when I tested it. Back home I tried to connect it with my PC via HDMI. I noticed that the picture didn't quite fit in the TV's picture and so I tried to change the output resolution on my PC and then changed the picture formats on the TV. I still didn't get the picture right and stopped to google the problem and then it happened - the TV died on me after I got to use it for 30min.

LG 55EG910V - no power and no standby light
          by AleMonti
          Hi everyone,
I'm trying to troubleshoot and repair this old LG OLED curved TV, model 55EG910V.
I did some basic troubleshooting and reviewed most related posts here, but I wasn't able to isolate the issue.

The TV shut itself off during playback and never came back to life - the standby light remains off. My dad claims that it has happened a few times in the past but the issue resolved itself after some time. Not this one.

After checking the basics I did the following:
          • I measured all voltages and as expected the only active supply is the 3.5V standby. It

          TV: Samsung QLED QE65Q7FNAT
          PSU: BN4400940A
          MB: BN94-12832K

I got the tv in spring 2024. At that time it started, then ran 60 sec and poweroff. Seemed like reboot issue. I didn't have time and room to check it in summer so I plugged it in and now the standby light is on. I press button on remote, standby light goes off and tries to start?. No picture or backlight on LCD. I thought about removing diodes like in this thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...sung-qled-q60r...
