Bought a used TV last weekend and everything was fine when I tested it. Back home I tried to connect it with my PC via HDMI. I noticed that the picture didn't quite fit in the TV's picture and so I tried to change the output resolution on my PC and then changed the picture formats on the TV. I still didn't get the picture right and stopped to google the problem and then it happened - the TV died on me after I got to use it for 30min.

I'm no expert in electronics but I know a bad cap when I see one (only visually sorry!). I also measured the diods for shorts. Main board gets it's 5V standby. The standby light doesn't come on and the TV doesn't respond to anything. I believe JVC had a secret boot menu by holding down the "OK" button on the remote and then connecting the power cable?! Also tried a USB stick (FAT32) in both USB ports and nothing.
I contacted by local electronics repair shop but they redirected me to another shop in another city. After talking to them on the phone, they said that they also don't have those boards in stock but they thought that the main software needs to be reinstalled.
1. Is it possible to force the TV somehow into booting from the USB stick?
2. Where can I find a software for my TV?
3. Do you think it's software related or is one of the boards toast?
