    Samsung UN46H5203 with backlight issue

So I got a free Samsung TV that turns on and I can see something on the screen with a flashlight (screen is very dark otherwise). I measured the power supply board output to the backlights and got the following:
    (on/off)
    1 D+ (181V/205V)
    2 D+ (181V/205V)
    3 S1- (169V/193V)
    4 S2+ (169V/192V)
    5 NC (0/0)
    6 S2- (147V/170V)
    7 S3+ (147V/170V)
    8 D- (0/0)
    9 D- (0/0)

Are the LEDs OK? Is power supply board OK? Do I need to check output to mainboard?

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

It s likely you have an open led in the string, There is likely one or more led's open in the string that is connected between S3+ and D-. Or there is a bad connection in the panel string.

Thanks RJ! Just so I can learn, how can you tell that there might be open LEDs between S3+ and D-?

The leds are ALL in series, when you masured the voltage (which is high) there was close to the same voltage at all the points you checked, NO current flow results in NO voltage drop along the string.
These voltages are approximations, but if the backlights were working, D+ would be about 135v; S1-/S2+ around 100v; S2-/S3+ around 70v and D- around 20v

Very good to know. Thanks!!! Now all I have to do is not break the LCD panel when I change out the LED strips.

Yes be very careful, Also once you have installed the led strips, test the tv without the panel installed to make sure the led's are working correctly, that way you only reinstall the lcd once. and be sure it is seated properly before installing the front bezel etc.

Samsung UN46H5203 backlight issue - stumped
                by soler88
I am trying to fix this tv that has image and sound but no backlight. Replaced all led strips and each strip turns on using a led tester but do not get any backlight when the tv turns on.
I disconnected the main board from the PS but still no backlight.

Looking at previous threads, nothing is jumping out at me and I'm stumped.

                Here are the voltage measurements:

Samsung SyncMaster 740n Phase Control Issue
                by vincentedel
                Hello,
I'm having an issue with the Samsung 740n's phase control setting. When I use the automatic adjustment, it sets the value to around 54 (with a range of 0-100), and the picture looks clear and sharp. However, after some timeβ€”like after playing a gameβ€”the text starts to look blurry. When I auto-adjust again, it may increase the value to 80, and everything becomes sharp once more. Yet, after a while, whether it's a few hours or a day later, the same blurriness returns, and I have to adjust it again.

I'm using the Samsung 740n monitor drivers instead of the default plug-and-play...

                QE65Q800TATXXC Samsung TV Issue
                by Manucsl
                Hello.

My TV is a QE65Q800TATXXC Samsung TV.

Issue : When you plug the 220V, voltages are OK on the power board and you can hear the click from the relay, but TV is not starting when power button is pressed. Red led is blinking when you press power button. But no images or sound ( Back-light is off )
Then if you disconnect the cable from the main board to the power supply, the TV back-light turns on.
Any ideas to check would be very appreciated 😊

After reading some posts on this forum, I suspect an eeprom issue so I bought a CH341A to dump...

                Display issue Samsung TV UA65JS9000W
                by FourRunner
I purchased a used Samsung TV model UA65JS9000W recently knowing it had an issue with the screen. When switched on the picture was bright both sides of the screen but a little darker in the middle of the screen. Thinking this was the back lights (side mounted LCD strips) I replaced these, however the issue is still there. I am now thinking it may be a TCOM issue, but am not sure, any advice on this would be appreciated. Also whilst changing out the back lights I noticed the the thick clear plastic sheet (maybe 1.5 to 2mm thick) below the diffusers there is cracking (up to 75mm) on the sides and...
