RCA RTU6049 Bad Backlights Horror Story

I got this model in awhile ago with the symptom of TV turning on with no backlights. I found one bad LED and new strips weren't available so I repaired it and turned down the backlight in the service menu. Backlight failed again same strip after an hour of testing. I ended up ordering 2W LEDs and replacing every LED in the strip. I tested for a week, sold the TV and it came back with the same failure after 2 days. The buyer was upset even though i gave him a full refund and he cracked the screen returning it.

Fast forward to today and I took this model in for a repair since I have the used strips. The TV was a different chassis (find this common in RCA white label TVs), but luckily used the same strips. It was fairly difficult to reassemble since the frame that support the panel was plastic riveted at the bottom, attached to the outer bezel at the top and floating on the sides. There were also no alignment tabs for the diffuser sheets to keep them in place. After struggling for a few hours, I finally got the TV together and screwed in the back cover lamenting I would never take this apart a second time. I turned on the TV and had backlight but no video. Removing the back cover, I found out I had screwed into one of the flex interconnect cables between the panel boards.

TLDR - Screwed into flex interconnect cable between panel boards. Need a new one for RCA RTU6049

Edit add - just searched the part number on ebay and they are listed there. M1424TP M0007FV

Edit add 2 - Looks like these ebay sellers want $20 for just for shipping to Canada. If anyone in the US can help me out and forward the item to me a letter, would appreciate it. Can paypal you the money. https://ebay.us/G0diXL

Shipping is the way they make money. It adds quite bit to a small order so it is often too expensive but replacing a TV costs way more.
Also. I insist on shipping by USPS to Canada. It comes to me without extra charges. Some companies have shipping contracts and only use those.
Always avoid those with brokerage charges. They are drummed up for no good reason and the person selling simply could not care less.
I stopped buying from shopjimmy for that reason. Their flat rate shipping is good to the border and the rest of the way goes by Fedex ground with brokerage charges. My $35 ($50 with shipping) order cost another $35 to my address.
The backlights are available now. Sorry if I cannot recall the name/number.

Samsung UE48H6410 replaced Mainboard but backlights doesnt go on
      by max789
Hello, I have a problem with my Samsung UE48H6410SSXZG with the main board BN41-02156A and the power board BN44-00709A. Everything seemed like this, the TV could no longer be switched on, the standby LED always flashed 5x2 times. Backlight was off and no sound from TV. Also made the flashlight test and there was no picture.

      I made the following tests:
      1. Disconnected the main board from Power Board = backlight works.
      2. Connected the main board and disconnected the T-Con = backlights does not work.

So I ordered a main board from Ebay also BN41-02156A but from...

      VIZIO M557-G0: Backlights or ???
      by bpcannan
      'Morning,
I get sound and picture when powering on the TV and its stays that EXCEPT that the left half of the screen will dim every few seconds then return to normal while the right side of the screen performs as designed.

Did the soft and hard reset options pulling the plug, using the reet option in the vizio menu to no avail.

I checked the mainboard - found some popped capacitors so replaced it - but that did not change the situation.

I checked the t-con board. It is getting good power. Then I removed one ribbon cable to see if I could isolate...

Samsung UE49MU6400 acts dead until disconnecting backlights, then works.
      by jesterace
Hi everyone I have this TV which was dead one day when I tried to turn it on. I've had the cover off and there was just a pulsating/electrical clicking/ticking noise from the PSU. I disconnected the mainboard as sometimes this works to just fire it up with backlights on? That didn't help. Same noise. Then I disconnected the backlight cable from the PSU and the TV came alive. It appeared to respond to the remote and i'm pretty sure it's fully operational when there is no backlight connected.

However, I am in a dilemma.

I tested the backlight outputs with the lights disconnected...

      Sony KD-75X750H no backlights
      by x_orange90_x
I just removed the back cover to test the backlights because when I first plug it in it will flash once and then start dark but I can see the image. I got 131v on string 1 and 167v on string 2. Usually when I get a bad set the meter reads 300v and they won't light up. When testing, each set lights up inside the tv. When I plug in the power and check the leads with my multimeter both strings are only about 3v.

Does this difference in voltage between the strings indicate that the lesser has bad LEDs? Or is it normal that they are not the same voltage? I've read some about this tv and...

toshiba 65ul2163 dbl no backlights NOT BACKLIGHTS?
      by jimbofz
Hi this vestel 65in tv had classic no backlights ,so nothing new there!
tested with b/l tester and the b/l seemed to be fine
so investigated psu 17ips72 (on this 65inch there are 3 fets and control iv type DB83630P)
did a thorough check on b/l circuit all ok .
When i tried again with b/l tester all ok .but then when i reinstalled psu all worked fine ,
could there be a component on psu that is causing the protection mode to stop b/l
.maybee causing it to be too sensitive?
it seems to me if the b/l have been on with my tester ,within a couple of minutes...
