Olevia 537 B12 screen goes blank while powered up

After a power outage due to a tree taking out a power line, and a separate power outage 1 weeks after the first in which the power blinked on/off about 10 times in a matter of 8 mintues, this Olevia LCD screen goes blank for no reason, but the power appears to be on.

The tv has been used sparingly over its life (2 years) and it seems the problem is getting worse. This morning after having the tv off all night, I powered it up this morning, it ran 15 minutes, then the screen went off, but the power button was still on. I turned it off for 1 minute, then turned it back on and it ran 22 minutes before the screen went blank.

Is this the tv, the outlet, or what?

I have read alot of this same thing online and most mention capacitors and main boards are the culprit.

Almost certainly the TV. I can't conceive of any way the outlet could be responsible. If the tv uses an external power supply 'brick', it could be the brick, or the tv itself. If it doesn't use an external power supply, the first step is to open the TV up and post pictures of the boards, in particular, the power supply.

      Thanks for the help

I read a lot about capacitors and opened the tv up but non of the capacitors were buldging or seaping. A few were slanted but I am almost positive they were like this from the factory.

Where would the power supply be located? I have the tv closed back up and I was thinking of "flashing" it with firmware but read that could be bad if done wrong.

I had the power board out and it looks brand new on top and underneath. No bulging or seeping and no burn marks anywhere.

I also read on an old tv post that my problem might be an inverter board.

It MIGHT be. When the screen goes blank can you still hear the sound?

There are several problems with the set. First of all, it was slapped together out of cheap parts by a company that had no plans of supporting it. Said company has now gone out of business.

However, the major problem is with the fixture holding the remote. That fixture refuses to provide meaningful assistance that MIGHT help it repair the TV.

The fixture DOES provide a lot of questions... I saw an Olevia, probably over a year ago, and externally they looked as if they had used quality stuff. There ya go again, thinkin'. better stop that,eh?

Yes, thinking can cause problems. In my case, NOT thinking has caused even more.

Re: Olevia 537 B12 screen goes blank while powered up

OK, my 537-B12 has the picture and sound go out after 15 to 30 minutes of use when the tv is warmed up, but after leaving the unit unplugged for 24 hours, I got 10 hours use before the picture and sound went out.

Can someone tell me what is going on?

I did order a power board for only $90 just in case that is the problem. From reading other threads, it seems that if you sound stays on while the picture goes out, it is more than likely the inverter board.

That is correct. It is very unlikely a bad inverter would kill the sound.

I should get the power board next week, fingers crossed it works.

Got the power board yesterday, installed it and the television has worked for about 9 straight hours so it looks as if that was the issue.

How can I check the old board to see what the exact issue was so I can have a backup lying around?

BTW, thanks for the help Bill, I appreciate it very much.

The symptoms point to an intermittent problem, probably a bad solder joint. Since it affects only one of the outputs, it must be on the secondary side of the board. Look for a ring of cracked solder around any heavy lead that goes through the board. A picture of the power supply board would help us identify possible problem areas.

Of course, if you do locate a suspicious spot and resolder it you would have to take the TV apart and put in the repaired power supply. You are reluctant to do this.

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

Hi all, I’ve got a problem I hope someone can help me fixi.
I have a Panasonic TX-48CX350B tv , it powers up ok but the screen is blank, the backlights are working, there’s nothing else though, no picture or sound. I’m not sure what the fault is called whether it’s BLANK/ BLACK/ or WHITE SCREEN I’ve actually came across this before on a similar tv but just ended up scrapping it, I will upload pictures of the boards etc , if anyone could help me I would really appreciate it...

                            Hi guys
I'm trying to fix this laptop screen

Basically the owner is a computer shop and they brought it to me with two screens. They said the repair shop they use could not fix it, so I thought i would try to see if I am better than their current repairer!

OK so I have the original screen which works but has lines across the bottom quarter of the screen

I have the replacement screen, which they fitted and it worked. They then put the laptop on one side for a couple of weeks until they found a buyer. When they showed it to the buyer, the screen would...

                            by reformatt
Just had a customer bring in a M2 MBA A2681 that had had a screen replacement in April at another repairer. Since then, she has been getting intermittent kernel panics. It's an aftermarket screen, and of course it fails in diagnostics as the calibration hasn't been done. The error in the panic log is "No device added after powering on the rails".

It seems the original repairer has swapped the board and the screen to other MAC's, and said that it isn't a screen issue. From what I understand, by doing a quick search on Google, this is in fact a screen issue. The panic relates...

                            by Kalman27
We have a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 14IAH8 - Type 83BF for repair. The original issue the OLED screen is blank.

We have replaced the OLED screen with the exact model, also we replaced the LCD cable, but no luck.

I think there is something with the motherboard. I don't really have experience with OLED screens so far, so not sure how it should work. I have seen some laptop comes with a separate controller board, but this model does not.

Also, there is an error in Windows device manager - This device cannot start (Code 10) - Intel(R) Serial IO I2C Host Controller...
