L42WD22 came in working just no backlight. These uses SAMXON caps in SMPS but have 3 x 2 samwha caps bloated but was not the issue. Slave lamp inverter is blown (MOSFET and IC), incredibly both 10A fuses on master/slave inverter boards aren't blown. Luckily I have a scrap set with same scorched (arced over to metal back when a tube went open circuit) panel and grabbed both boards and put them in. working great. Then when I thought lost a screw and asked coworker to tilt around the tv to find it, then said there's loose object inside LCD. Turned out the screw backed out off the internal lamp circuit board holders and was rolling around and blew the slave lamp inverter. Loctited all 4 screws just incase.
HNC (generic gak! 17" LCD monitor was flashing unknown error bimodual 2 color code repeatedly and won't light up or do anything with buttons.) Bad I2C eeprom by trial as I saw constant talk on I2C bus where it should be in one burst with each press of any button and/or video inputs. Picked one from junker chassis (any will do as long as number matches like 24C16 for 24C16) and that fixed it. EEPROM only served to hold user's settings.
Cheers, Wizard
