I have a 2011 Panasonic Plasma HD 3D Viera model notorious for the SC board failure. As per a Google for the dreaded 14 blink code I discovered from info on this forum about isolating suspect boards by disconnecting the power cables and using an ohmmeter on the power terminals and this led me to the SC board. I had it repaired by a nearby technician who replaced the shorted transistors and before I got the board back I wondered if any of the buffer boards are damaged and a YouTube showed how to test these by using the ohmmeter and removing the copper colored ribbon cables to the display and use an ohmmeter on the ribbon connectors front and back side and to ground and according to the video mine were okay. After installing the repaired SC board I now have horizontal black lines across the display. The tech who repaired my board figures I have connection problems on some of the display ribbon cables but as per the buffer board YouTube the ribbon cables should be examined for any signs of exposed copper indicating improperly inserted ribbon cables. Before I powered up the TV I re examined all and no signs of exposed copper and I removed and re installed these gently as they are perhaps fragile. Do I have to remove all the ribbons and perhaps use compressed air and electrical contact cleaner for any possibility of entry of dust or lint or do I possibly have damaged buffer boards? Also as per what is mentioned on this forum about loose screws mounting the boards, I retorqued all screws and yes some had loosened off with use. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and at least my Panasonic is attempting to work after 8 years of use compared to numerous posts about other Panasonics of similar models of this vintage dieing a month or two after warranty.

Re: Panasonic Plasma TC-P50ST30 Horizontal Black Lines
For those of you with similar problems after diagnosing possible buffer board failure during SC board repair/replace it would appear to be ribbon cables not properly seated. I released the latches on the connectors and tapped the ribbon with my finger tip. The faint rows of fine black lines took several attempts to rid them. I guess it would make sense to totally test before reinstalling the back cover.
