    Hitachi 42HXT12U No Backlight 17ips20

    Hi all again
Working on this Hitachi 42HXT12U with failed backlight
First thought failed led or leds, + volts to backlight 190v
Stripped panel found one dead open led, replaced failed led, tested each led with 3v and all leds now working
Reassembled tv and working however after about 20 minutes backlights went back off
Stripped panel again and all leds seem to be working, maybe failing with higher current supplied by the powerboard
On testing powerboard output to leds am getting 117v rising to about 190v backlights flash on for a split second, then volts fall to 117.7v and then settles at that with no backlight
Question do you guys think I still have a faulty led that is failing under higher current from powerboard supply
OR Could this be the MPS chip on the powerboard failed or failing
If I disconnect the red/white wires from the powerboard to backlights and power the backlights with my cheapo backlight tester the backlights come on and stay on drawing a voltage from the tester of 134 volts
Any help appreciated please before I strip the panel again or try and replace this MPS chip
    Thanks

Just powered on the tv to check voltages again and backlight has come on, been on for about ten minutes but am sure will go off again soon
Only thing I notice now with the backligh working is a noisy hum from the powerboard

Remove the power supply and resolder the connections on the transformers , they could have poor solder connections

Made time and checked transformer joints, all seemed ok, but resoldered anyway no change, still no backlight and voltages the same 118 up to 190 back down to 117.7v

Sounds like a bad LED to me. They should be tested at 300mA

Any easy way of testing the leds as to which one or which ones are failing under load

I have a piece of the PCB the Vestel LED strips plug into, with a couple of wires soldered on.
I power it with my bench power supply.

You can also check the led (-) lead, pin 7 of led plug, if there is 0 volts when first turned on at the led return it is almost always an open connection for the led string in the panel, you checked each led but you need to check any led string plug connections also

Update*** stripped screen panel again checked led's again, led that I had replaced had failed, maybe I put too much heat to it when I resoldered . However replaced led again and backlight is now working, tv has been on now for about four hours, so fingers crossed that is a fix.
Strange thing though when I powered backlights using my cheapo chinese backlight tester and powering the whole backlight string from the connection at the powerboard connector (diconnected from the powerboard] the whole string lit up including the faulty led that I had replaced.
How I found the faulty led, I reconnected led connector and powered on the tv, checked the voltage at each strip, can't remember now but say 175v at first strip 150v at second strip 130v third strip etc. etc. until think it was fifth strip volts dissapeared 0v tracked back to the faulty led with no voltage passing through the faulty led.
Anyway as I type this the tv is still working
Thanks again everyone for your help again

                        by asda333
                        Hi

So I have this TV Hitachi 42hxt12u and I was experiencing the same problem which mrreeseburger showed a video about a faulty LED that had blown, as I could see image when shining light on tv which was not showing anything and checking with multimeter the voltage at the LED connector showed around 180 volts then went down to 117V and stayed there.

I opened it up as shown in video and replaced the bulbs and they all work, which before 3 were blown.

After closing the panels back the blue cover on the back of one of the t-con flex cable had come off and i...

Samsung UE48H6410 replaced Mainboard but backlights doesnt go on
                        by max789
Hello, I have a problem with my Samsung UE48H6410SSXZG with the main board BN41-02156A and the power board BN44-00709A. Everything seemed like this, the TV could no longer be switched on, the standby LED always flashed 5x2 times. Backlight was off and no sound from TV. Also made the flashlight test and there was no picture.

                        I made the following tests:
                        1. Disconnected the main board from Power Board = backlight works.
                        2. Connected the main board and disconnected the T-Con = backlights does not work.

So I ordered a main board from Ebay also BN41-02156A but from...

                        by bpcannan
                        'Morning,
I get sound and picture when powering on the TV and its stays that EXCEPT that the left half of the screen will dim every few seconds then return to normal while the right side of the screen performs as designed.

Did the soft and hard reset options pulling the plug, using the reet option in the vizio menu to no avail.

I checked the mainboard - found some popped capacitors so replaced it - but that did not change the situation.

I checked the t-con board. It is getting good power. Then I removed one ribbon cable to see if I could isolate...

Samsung UE49MU6400 acts dead until disconnecting backlights, then works.

Hi everyone I have this TV which was dead one day when I tried to turn it on. I've had the cover off and there was just a pulsating/electrical clicking/ticking noise from the PSU. I disconnected the mainboard as sometimes this works to just fire it up with backlights on? That didn't help. Same noise. Then I disconnected the backlight cable from the PSU and the TV came alive. It appeared to respond to the remote and i'm pretty sure it's fully operational when there is no backlight connected.

However, I am in a dilemma.

I tested the backlight outputs with the lights disconnected...

Hi this vestel 65in tv had classic no backlights ,so nothing new there!
tested with b/l tester and the b/l seemed to be fine
so investigated psu 17ips72 (on this 65inch there are 3 fets and control iv type DB83630P)
did a thorough check on b/l circuit all ok .
When i tried again with b/l tester all ok .but then when i reinstalled psu all worked fine ,
could there be a component on psu that is causing the protection mode to stop b/l
.maybee causing it to be too sensitive?
it seems to me if the b/l have been on with my tester ,within a couple of minutes...
