my way to do any edge LED back light by replace them all
1- with hot air gun from the down side of the strips heat them and took all out
2- with shave plate scratch the LED strips more from right side and left side
3 place solder on the old place and the new scratch with iron
4- replace the new LED in place with finger press it at its place then with iron i heat the solder outside the LED, it will mild all solder of one side and the led i can feel it pressed down a little. same way to opposite side.

can you post photo of yours LED Back light socket on PSU .. ?

you said each strip had 56 LED, this huge if they are not separated as groups. to be sure if they are 6 or 3 volts

Yes it is 56 LEDs in series per strip (one group).
I tried LEDs with 3V at fIrst but I could not get them to shine.
After that I tested LEDs with 6V, all LEDs are shining except 5 LEDs which are bad.
I expected one LED to be bad. How come 5 LEDs were open connection?

On PSU there are two connectors for LED back-light. Two pins per connector.
        Photos attached.

            Both caps are 10uF, 450V.

Re: Sony Bravia KDL-42EX440 - problem - turns off after switching on

I have analysed those 4020 LEDs that are working fine.

              This is what I measured:
              Voltage applied:___| 5.5V | 5.75V | 6.00V | 6.2V
              Measured current:_| 20mA | 40mA | 60mA | 80mA
Measured current is nor exactly the same for all LEDs, this is average value.

I am thinking of switching to 2835 LEDs.
I have found this LED in a local store but I am not sure if it would be suitable for LCD TV usage.

you are going with this thinking to damage the strips and it may cause damage your PSU. stay on original 4020

I wouldn't change the LED dimensions on an edge lit TV. The LEDs were chosen for a reason. They reflect their light down the inside of the acrylic sheet on edge lit TVs. Changing the LED width will upset those reflections.

                    Thank you Diah & diif.
                    I will stay with 4020.
I guess it is Aliexpress then.

I’m sorry for my bad English because is not my first language, but I want to know if you resolved the problem. I have the same issue on the same tv model and I want to be sure if it’s the led strips that are bad so I can order a new one and replace it.

                        Hello Elviscocho,
Yes, I resolved the issue. Problem was in the led strips.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                          by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on
                          by PopsCaps
I have a Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 that will not power on. The indicator flashes red 3 times.
I do not hear any sound and I cannot see any backlight.
I have tried disconnecting every cable on each board one at a time to see if anything changes.
The only change is when I disconnect AC-DET cable on the Power Supply board or on the other end if I unplug the CN7009 connection on the B-Board and try to power on the TV the indicator will stay on solid green until I power off.
My friend ordered another used power supply board but it is also doing the red indicator flash 3 times...

                          by justin35
                          Hello,
i have this sony bravia kdl-43w755c which boot loops. After sony logo, it shows the android animation loading then it restarts…
from what i read online it looks to be an emmc issue…
i’m not familiar with this kind of tv repairs… i’m repairing laptops and gpu’s…
i took out the board and say an samsung 16gb emmc
                          i don’t have an exact replacement, but i have a few 32 and 64gb emms’s from laptops…
i could try to put one instead of the 16gb one, but will it work?
where do i get the software from?
any help will be much appreciated!...

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
                          by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...
