Video not working on LG 49UF6800 (menus and sound works)

Hi, I have an LG 49UF6800 that's having some issues. All of the menu screens work fine, but none of the video inputs are working. I've tried the AV input, as well as all 3 HDMI ports, as well as the built in apps such as Netflix. I can hear sound on all of them, but there's no video, it's just snow/lines (attached photos showing this). I can see the Netflix app and all the movies/shows, but when I click one I just hear the audio and get the same snow/lines, in the attached photo you can see if I skip forward in a movie it even shows the thumbnails at the bottom, but still no video.

So far I've taken the back off and taken out the main board to have a quick look at it, nothing obvious stood out to me as an issue but it was just a quick initial scan and I just wanted to reseat the cables to make sure they were connected properly as well. I've also did the most recent software update hoping that might help but it did not.

Another note, I'm fairly savvy in electronic repairs and have tools such as a multi-meter, soldering station, etc. I just haven't worked with many TV's before.

Would anyone have any ideas as to what this might be/how I could repair it? Thanks in advance, any help is greatly appreciated!

Looks like that model has BGA issues on the main board.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah from reading about this model a bit more in things like Amazon reviews I've seen a few people mention this same issue, from the ones I've read it does seem like the issue is with the main board. Unfortunately that eBay listening doesn't offer shipping to Canada, although maybe I could message them and ask, it's still a bit out of my budget. The cheapest new one I could find seems to be over $300 CAD as well unfortunately..

I found a video of someone showing the same issue with a similar TV, figured it might be valuable to share here as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdWqF5G17SE

I'm guessing the chip which needs to be replaced/reworked is the one in the middle under the black heatsink?

looks most likely suspect to me . can you not file not fit for purpose claim if its worth lots of money when working ?

I'm not too sure what you mean, could you go into a bit more detail on what that is? Thanks!

its much glitch at firmware, time to send command IN STOP via IR to clean any bad cache. and reset the eeprom to factory condition

if with IN STOP no better, then just reheat the large IC CPU

Could you give me some more details on how I can do this? I've done some searching on IN STOP but not finding much info on this so I'm not sure where to begin.. Thanks!

Also, is this the same as resetting to factory settings? I did that through the settings menu already but unfortunately that did not help.

if you have underhand Android mobile with IR blaster like Galaxy S5 , at the Google market apk called Smart IR Remote, when you set it as remote to LG TV you will have click as IN STOP, the apk i posted over this forum too.

IN STOP is Hard reset more effective than factory reseet under the menu UI

Thanks for the reply. After some more research earlier I was able to figure it out and I did "IN STOP" and it reset the TV but unfortunately that did not solve my problem.

I just reset the eeprom as well but still unfortunately it's not working.

I may heat the chip as a last ditch effort to get this one going unless there are any other ideas. If that's the case do you figure the correct chip would be the one under the black heatsink in the middle of the board? I would assume that would be the correct one but I also see a large silver heatsink in the corner so thought maybe that could be it as well..

Reheating the chip may work temporarily but reballing is the proper repair. The lead free solder balls become intermittent. I've baked both a PS3 and laptop which both worked for a few months until the problem returned.

yes of sure reballing the chip the best way,, but thought this level not for home user,,

yes the one under the black heat sink, but try to cover with type the parts down side the chip as they may get loss by heat.
