Turn on TV, displays these wide vertical bars. Thinking bad TCon, got a new one from shopjimmy. Just put it in, and still doing same thing. Assuming now either bad main board or bad bonding to the panel. Here is a pic. TV was located in an enclosed outdoor porch.

Re: LG 42LN5200-UM vertical bars
Looks like a TAB Bond issue. The Main Bd could be faulty as well. Do you have access to an oscilloscope? So we could see if LVDS signals are being output from the Main Bd into the T-CON Bd.?? -

Almost certainly a panel issue of some kind. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

by x_orange90_xI posted about this previously but didn't get any response, and I have some troubleshooted a bit so I have more info.
The screen is full of horizontal "gaps" or lines that distort the picture badly, and after about 10 seconds of powering it on the screen starts to fill with red vertical bars that take on the horizontal pattern. After the screen filled with the red bars, they instantly vanished and then slowly started to reappear. I initially thought it was tab bonding failure, but after getting down to them and pressing each one I find zero change in the picture. I went... -
by ninja_zx11Hi all,
70" LED TV is Sharp LC-70LE650U.
Initial problem was horizontal lines and slow motion lurrs on the bottom left of the screen. So I removed both the left and right ribbon cables from the T-con board and tried to clean it with alcohol and when I put it back, this issue appeared. I tried carefully reinserting the ribbon bon cables but same thing. I checked the traces of the ribbon cables with magnifying glass and everything looks good. I cleaned the small jumper ribbon cable on the left side of the screen which cured the horizontal line and slow motion blurs...07-07-2023, 11:27 PM -
by Daren87Hello everyone,
I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the... -
by JesusJonesTrash picked this plasma for parts and found it had some bad solder joints. It powered on after reworking most of the boards and seems like it may even work.
The symptoms is, when showing a picture of bright (mostly white) intensity (within the affected area only) a vertical strip 2 3/4" wide will begin to fuzz out (just to the right of samsung logo, 16 3/8" from screen edge), and soon turns black (from top to bottom). Changing to a darker scene immediatley ater will cause the black stripe to fade back in (it fuzzes and clears up again) and it starts working just fine.... -
by mopensteinI'm working on my 27" RCA console TV built in 1990. It had some vertical rollover for a few months that went away after being powered on for a few minutes. I had been meaning to open it up and check it out but it had total vertical collapse before I could get to it.
Now that I have the time I opened it up and found a couple leaky capacitors around the vertical ic. So I figured the caps went bad and cooked the vertical IC.
I got the caps out and replacements on order. But when I took out the Vertical IC I saw that the chip numbers have been almost completely wiped... - Loading...
