Sammy Plasma PN60F5500AF vs PN51F5500AF Main Boards

Had a 60" Sammy Plasma come in with. Worked fine, but no HDMI ports.. Main Board BN97-07107X...

Tried a reflow on the board, no luck..

    Had to order a replacement..

Came across a Main Board with the same # BN97-07107X but it says it was for a Sammy PN51F5500AF..

I figured it was close enough..

Now I think I figured wrong..

When I put in the new board the TV doesn't give me a display at all.. Power LED blinks a few times, then goes out, then blinks a few times.. But nothing on the display...

One thing I did notice on the replacement board.. The heat sink is normally very secured to the chip.. This one is able to be lifted off with the barest pressure..

So, either I got a bad board or it's simply a case of it being the wrong board..

If it's the latter, is there a chip I can swap out from the old board to the new board to make it compatible??

Thanx in advance for any help..

Re: Sammy Plasma PN60F5500AF vs PN51F5500AF Main Boards

    OK Update on this..

I was thinking I could swap out the BIOS chips of the two boards.. Have had success on that before. THAT got me thinking of just doing a firmware upgrade.. So I tooled around for the firmware and discovered that the firmware for all the PNxxF5500 series is identical. Which kind of shoots down my theory that swapping out BIOS chips may fix the problem..

Then it occurred to me that simply doing a firmware upgrade might help..

Did the upgrade on the board with no HDMI.. No help..

Can't seem to do the upgrade on the P51 Main Board because it doesn't appear to get that far along in the boot up process to start the update..

So, I am kinda stumped here and leaning more towards a bad P51 Main Board.

Another tidbit of info became available however.. There is a green LED in the middle of the Main Boards.. When the P51 board is installed, that LED does 5 blinks, then a large pause.. 5 blinks, large pause.. etc etc..

Although I can swear to it (going to confirm in a sec) I believe that the working Main Board, the LED just blinked on and off steadily...

Hopefully this LED is an error code that will allow me to confirm that the P51 board is, indeed, bad..

OK I can confirm that the green LED in the middle of the Main Board blinks steadily under normal operation...

In confirming this, THIS happened to the TV..

I have a feeling (Hoping) it's something simple like a mis-alignment in the connector pictured.

But, to be honest, I totally stressed out about this as this TV is supposed to be ready by Noon for the Jaguars game.

I am going to put it aside and get in a better frame of mind...

Plasma Samsung PS-50C96HD Main board BN94-01223C switches off supply after few seconds
        by alltvrepairs
        Hi,
I have this almost brand new Plasma was well stored. I would like to repair it for a friend of mine.

I have noticed that it works for few seconds then switches Off the Power_ On signal. Have disconnected boards and left maion board and power supply and still the same. The power supply with PS_ON and VA signals On stays on so it is not a problem in the power supply.
Any one met this problem in the past?...

Is it possible to upgrade from a Vestel 17MB97 main board to a 17MB110 Main board?
        by cheeky2
I suppose the real question is whether the existing pinouts from ether a 17IPS71 psu are cross compatible with a 17IPS12 psu? If they are then the exchange of the main boards should have no issues providing the screen is compatible with both main boards. Obviously you can change the screen configurations easily enough (providing you have the correct files) for the main board. Why may you ask would I do this? Well a lot of the smart features are no longer working on a Hitachi 48HBT62U main board I wish to give it a new lease of life!
Obviously the same LVDS connector for the screen connection...

Samsung PN50C540G3FXZA 50" Plasma, power cycling, Y-Main problem, Canada
        by bcstedt
Just starting to crack into this one and wanted to get the ball rolling.

At power on (plug in), power light on, relays click, repeat (sometimes)

After disconnecting Y-Main from SMPS power stays on and boot up jingle is heard from speakers

Removed Y-Main for inspection and testing

        by Dani_2024
Hi and thanks in advance for any input you might provide!
I have a Sceptre U550CV-UMRD8POTV83BB 4K LED (this is a dumb tv) that I bought new in August 2021, so It's just completed 3 years.
Main power board model: TP.MS3683.PC821 T-Con board: N4TP546UHDPU2L_BO

Last Sunday I was watching a dvd and fell asleep for about half hour, when I awoke the tv screen was black and couldn't get the dvd menu to show, so I changed the input to antenna and had sound but no picture, turned it off. I then got online and found this great site! ....read many troubleshooting tips and this...
