Hello. I have a Toshiba HT551U LCD TV. It has red color. And perfectly spaced vertical lines. I've pulled all board to look For bulging capacitors. Didn't find any. The caps all look good. Also checked for bad solder joints. Didn't find any. Could my problem be the T-Con board? Or Video board. Inverter boards? Thanks

Re: Toshiba HT551U Has Red Picture and Vertical Lines - TCon ???
Hello.
As you listed almost every board in the tv, yes, one of them may be faulty.
But to write here something helpful also:
Can you make a photo of the back side of the TV? Or post the board numbers.
If every function is okay, only the picture has weird colors/tones, I would first say T-con. Rarely it can be the bonds to the LCD, but for now, let's hope for the best.
But to troubleshoot that over the forum, you have to make a few pictures of the backside. Is the t-con integrated on the motherboard? Or is is a separate board? Does it have 2 ribbon cables running to the LCD? If so, try to switch on the tv with only one of them connected at a time. Then write here, what changed.

Re: Toshiba HT551U Has Red Picture and Vertical Lines - TCon ???
Hi yohnsee . Thanks for chiming in. I've attached more pics. My T-con board is removable. It has 4 ribbon cables connecting it to the panel. Should I remove two ribbon cables on one side and and power on the tv? My t-con board number is: 54T01-C04 / T546HW01
The picture will sometimes clear up and look normal. See last pic. Which may be capacitors? But the caps are not bulged at all. None . ThanksComment

Re: Toshiba HT551U Has Red Picture and Vertical Lines - TCon ???
Now you can make this test:
Power down your tv.
Disconnect the 2 left ribbon cables, that run from the t-con to the display.
Plug your set back in the mains, turn it on.
You should see half of the picture. If the picture is okay (no red stripes or any other problems) then that part of your t-con should be fine. Now repeat the above steps, only now with the 2 ribbon cables on the right side. Then post back, what did you have.Cheers, JanosComment

Re: Toshiba HT551U Has Red Picture and Vertical Lines - TCon ???
Ok. I done the test you suggested. But the tv is not acting up. Here's pics of the test. The first pic is with the left two tcon ribbon cables disconnected. The second pic is the right two tcon ribbon cables disconnected. But like I said it's behaving normal while I did this test. But the picture with the left two disconnected looks grainy to me. Re: Toshiba HT551U Has Red Picture and Vertical Lines - TCon ???
Now I have a few things on my mind. You are doing these tests in a row, and the tv has heated up to working temperature, this can cause the good behaviour.
If you happen to have canned air at home, you can try to spray some on the t-con board, holding the can upside down. This will cool down the components rapidly, and may show us where to search. You can also do this test with all the ribbon cables connected back in place.
I will rest my head for today, tomorrow we can continue to discover the problem.Cheers, JanosComment

Re: Toshiba HT551U Has Red Picture and Vertical Lines - TCon ???
I’ve ran this TV for the past few days for up to 10 hours at a time. It’s worked perfectly. I had removed and inspected all boards. Sanded the light corrosion on all ground tabs. So, it’s possible that one of the connectors were loose os slightly corroded. I’m not sure. All is working well. So far, so good.Comment

by JJAAMMThis was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.
Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode... -
by noisykid5.5 year old 85 inch Sony Bravia X950G started showing gray horizontal lines across the bottom of the screen and the picture shifts slightly vertically when it happens. The lines sometimes get bigger/smaller vertically and bounce back. See the video for the problem. It seems to be happening after it warms up after an hour or so. Happens regardless of source. Right now there's nothing but power cable connected and it's happening. We did hook up a new Nintendo Switch to our HDMI switching receiver today, and played for a while with no issues, but this problem didn't occur til a few hours later while...

by Stanley1843Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

by srsI'm not sure what to do next and came here since y'all helped me fix a 50" plasma TV back in 2014, which is still working!
A friend gave me an Insignia NS-50DR620NA18 50" TV that suddenly developed large vertical lines on it. He said he had no idea what might have caused it and has replaced it with a larger TV. He was going to throw it away.
I did not notice any bulged or leaking caps on any board, the voltages produced by the power supply match the voltage that the pins are marked. The backlight leds are working. I have tried cleaning the ribbon cables... -
by Daren87Hello everyone,
I've recently been given a Sony 8k Z8H. It's got a white screen with two vertical black bars. At times it's given me the 5 blink Tcon code. Testing voltage on the Tcon I can see some low or missing voltage. I've done a basic visual check of cables and the COF. Not seeing anything obvious. The original Tcon seemed to have good caps until turning it over. On the bottom I found maybe 10 caps with both sides of the caps shorting to ground. I thought ok these caps and likely other components on the Tcon are shorted so let's try a replacement Tcon. I just received the... - Loading...
