    Using different type of cap

Novice trying to repair a Samsung plasma TV with the clicking non-start problem. I've replaced the visible blown/domed caps on the power board but the problem remains. I think I have identified the problem cap/s as I can start the tv after heating these 2 caps with hairdryer for 15 seconds, starts up and works perfect for the whole day no problem. I don't know which is the culprit so intend to replace both. I have sourced the aluminium cap 5v 22uf no problem but I cannot find an obvious replacement for the small brown one. The only markings are 1J with 104J underneath which I believe is 0.1uf 5% tolerance. The problem is I don't know what type of cap it is, presumably film type, and I cant find a similar looking one online.

    1) can I change to a different cap of the same specs ? e.g. ceramic or ali.
    2) is the voltage critical? it is on a 5V switching circuit but film caps seem to range from 50v upwards.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

PS. the white gunk is mastic which I cut away to read the labels. the label on the can cap is cut as I tried to remove it to read. The brown cap in question is about 8mm square with inner kinked legs spaced 5mm

Does the voltage matter? I know it's best to increase it slightly for Ali can caps but does it matter for film caps?

given the minimum voltage of a 100n polypropylene cap is usualy 63v, your all-good

Result. Up & running again perfectly. I know I'm a tightass but I did not want to bin a big plasma TV if I didn't have to. Unfortunately the 2 caps needed were only available in packs of 10 which cost me the extortionate price of £2.40 with free postage. Cheaper than a new TV which most people would rush out and buy. I was amazed that there are no local TV repair shops like there used to be years ago, must be a sign of the times in this "want it now" society.

                  HP X2 1012 G2 Type-C problem
                  by pc boy
Hi everyone. An HP X2 1012 G2 came the other day. The problem was that the device drained the battery while off. I checked and saw the current is 0.2 before start. I went and checked parts on the MB and saw that the JHL6340 IC that is responsible for controlling Type-C gets hot. Everything worked fine and I checked charging and data of type-C both were OK. I went ahead and replaced the JHL6340. Now it does not get hot, no current before start, charging is OK, but the data of type-c is lost. I mean any type-c device like flash memory or hdmi adapter etc. do not work. I tried another jhl6340 and...
