Just a Scratch Or A Cracked LED Panel

    Hi All,
There is an annoying visible scratch on my Led TV Samsung UA24H4100 and I want to make sure that ...
    1. The pixels beneath the scratched line is not damaged.
    2. And the panel does not exhibit any signs of crack underneath the scratched surface.

I was told some kid scratched the TV with a ball pen. The ink was wiped out but it left the scratch on the TV screen. Just want to make sure that the scratch is superficial only.

Many thanks if any one can confirm that the scratch is superficial and there is nothing to worry.

Thanks a lot ducky for the reply. Is there a way to remove the scratch or I have to just live with it. The kid seems to have drawn a circle in the center of the tv and dragged the ball pen across to the left of the screen and took a u turn to the center of the screen again. The path of the pen/scratch marks are visible with the same intensity as seen in the images. These marks are obviously visible in the white background (ms-word) but otherwise not noticeable. Any idea that would clear out the scratch marks without affecting the underlying screen.

You will probably make it worse so leave it as is.
I only repair Panasonic plasma tv's! Currently owning a TX-P55VT50 and still searching for a ZT60!

LCD screen have a film of plastic like material over the glass. So what you are wtching is not the bare glass. That thin film is what got damaged. DO NOT use any abrasives like polishing compound or the like to remove it. As Moreno83 said you will only make it worse, leave it alone.

Thanks everyone for the valuable suggestion. I wanted to use it as a computer monitor but since the scratches are visible and annoying at 1-2 feet distance I think the best use would be as a third TV in kids room. The scratches are less prominent at 4 to 5 feet from the TV. As everyone suggested I left the scratches as it is. Thanks once again for your time.

LG 49UJ6500 LCD panel lighter band that goes away
                  by howardc64
49UJ6500 LCD panel has a lighter band on top when first powered on. Goes away (or gets much fainter) after TV on for a few min. After powered off for awhile and power back on, same band appears. If powered on immediately after powering off, no or much fainter band. Running the latest firmware.

Disassembled the TV and lifted the LCD panel during testing. Band is on the LCD panel (can see the band on the panel as I lift it slightly) Backlight is perfectly even at the top edge. Double checked LCD panel alignment in the frame and is perfect but since band moved with the panel, its on...

SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.
                  by triplefour
TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

                  tcon is built into mainboard.
Only one cable goes to panel boards.
there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

                  QN55Q60R Service Menu Panel Help
                  by Storyteller12
I had a the above tv qn55q60r that had a bad panel but everything else good. I had another panel here from un55nu6900 with bad leds and melted diffusers.

I put the nu6900 panel in and powered it up and it does work but there are lines vertical lines.

I was trying to change the panel type in the service menu but don’t see my exact panel. Anyway to fix this or someone have similar experience.

the clear picture is the panel type from the service menus on the nu6900. The other 1 is the panel type that was set for the q60r with the bad panel....

Missing LCD Panel Voltages VGH, VGL, VCOM (TCL 55P6US Sound & Backlight but NO Picture)
                  by maneatingmonkey
I have a TCL 55P6US with sound and backlight but no picture. This model does not have a T-CON board, and the right (rear perspective) panel board is fed from the left panel board. I have not been able to induce any change by disconnecting the secondary panel board or the tape cut-off method on the primary board.

There are a bunch of voltages missing on the panel boards. I can't find any shorted caps of the panel boards, and all of the missing voltage rails read in the kiloohms, which leads me to suspect the issue may lie on the circuit board, rather than a short in the panel.
